It Depends onYour Aim

Posted on the CNN website in response to a story on the dramatic decline of Christian faith in the U.S.:

I don't know of one Christian believer who would deny that everyone has the "right" to believe whatever they want or in nothing at all. That right comes from the exercise of free will--God given power for each individual to make their own choice. Yet, rights always come with responsibilities. When you decide to believe in things that cannot give you eternal life in the presence of God, then you are responsible for that choice and its outcome.

One very common objection is that it is not "correct" or "fair" to claim that there is only one way to eternal life in the presence of Holy God and by some forms of human logic that makes great sense. But just as there is but one correct path for an arrow to follow in order to strike the very center of the target, there is just one narrow path to God. Any other path counts as a "miss."

Calling whatever your arrow happens to hit doesn't make it a bulls-eye. God promised you that you will find Him if you keep looking for the truth and don't just settle for whatever strikes your fancy. Keep looking, you will find Him and how glad you will be.
