All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Greetings!
Have you noticed the shift? It seems our culture has a greatly diminished view of God. God is made to be weak, impotent and rather irrelevant. And let's face it - even though we who have relationship with him do not say such things, many of us act as though it is true. [I believe it is called Functional Atheism] We show how little we trust God by how little we entrust to him, specifically in prayer.
Here's the thing: many have settled for a God 'on call', a God available for crises and fiascoes, who does a bit of juggling with weather patterns and parking stalls but who otherwise remains unobtrusive as a chamber maid, tidying things up while you're at brunch, leaving a crisp sash of tissue paper around the lid of the toilet bowl to let you know all is in order. The problem, obviously, is that this god -- so kind, so shy, so tame -- has nothing whatsoever to do with the God of the Bible. This god resembles not even remotely the God whose Spirit broods and dances, the God who topples entire empires sometimes overnight, the God who reveals himself in the Christ who looks big men in the eye and says, "Follow me," and then walks away, not waiting for a reply."1
-->We were made in God's image, yet many have remade God into our image!
In the last Morning Briefing, I asked you to look at Creation in order to gain perspective on the magnificence of God. He is an eternal, limitless, all knowing, almighty and ever-present Being.
IN THE BEGINNING . . . so, before anything else, there was God because he has always been. And then he created - revealing so much about who he is and how he is indeed truly ABLE to blow our minds!
from Genesis 1, we see what God created and when:
Day One-light, dark "Let there be light"; God separated darkness from light, called the light Day and the dark Night.
Day Two-earth "Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters and let it separate the waters from the waters". God called the expanse Heaven. “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.” Dry land earth; waters seas - God saw that it was good.
Day Three-vegetation
Day Four-two great lights (sun, moon, stars)
Day Five-sea creatures and birds
Day Six-animals and ma2
Do you see how God first provided light and dark, water and land, then vegetation, sunlight to grow that vegetation, and animals to then inhabit the land? Each thing in order. Check out this video - really, do yourself a favor and show it to your kids--it is not long (7ish minutes), but so valuable! I saw Giglio share this live: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVsqCLyoU3o3
God is beyond all that we can think or imagine. Consider this:
"To whom will you compare me? Or who is my equal?" says the Holy One. Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name. 4
Is anything too big for God?
Let's take another look at Paul's words again, simplifying this part:
Now to him... who is able to do far more than all that we ask or think ...
So may I ask you,
--when you wake up in the morning, do you remember that God is Able to go with you into the day and throughout the day?
--when the stress of life seems likely to o'er take you, do you remember that God is Able to best whatever comes your way?
--as you look down the railroad tracks - perhaps of your life - do you go boldly forward remembering that he never slumbers nor sleeps, that truly God is able to do far more than you have even thought to ask him??
Only word for God? Indescribable: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sM5YReFSm0I
Nothing is too big for God!
