If 20/20 is perfect vision . . .

If 20/20 is nearly perfect vision . . .

this is a biggie! New Year, 2020

So . . . if 20/20 is nearly perfect vision,

and we are entering the year 2020,

what would perfect vision look like for each of us

~in the next year,

~in the next decade?

The. New. Year.

Here's the thing: regularly living with one thought on the past, dwelling on what might have, could have and should have been serves no good purpose. Yet as we move into a new year, a little personal reflection can be so very valuable, as

a little stocktaking provides awareness, and forward thinking spurs us onto growth.

"There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under Heaven~

. . .a time to plant, and a time to uproot

. . .a time to tear down, and a time to build

. . .a time to scatter stones, and a time to gather them

. . .a time to keep, and a time to throw away

. . .a time to be silent, and a time to speak." from Ecclesiastes 3

Let's take time, a brief season to reflect. [might want to print this out to think, to write]

In considering these matters myself, blessings as well as trials, I can easily see how God has been so good in my life, how he has been there ~ guiding me, sustaining and carrying me in the roughest spots. Truly, looking back reminds me he has been faithful.

I have to admit, if I did not make time to take stock, to write things down even, to reflect, I could easily just say 'Oh, 2019 is behind me now,' and kinda' leave it in a heap of memories, forgetting so many things. There were great times with loved ones, living life-even the very gift of life(!), experiencing new things, sharing sweet moments, laughter, surviving difficult things and always, God’s presence.

If your year was especially difficult, my friend, no living in last year, no staying there or continuing to look back over your shoulder. If you have taken just a little time, recalled what has hurt, where you have lost and of what you must let go, then it is now time to look ahead, look to the new that God has for you in the year 2020 and the next decade. After all, your windshield is a whole lot bigger than your rearview mirror, right?

This is what the Lord says— he who made a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. Isaiah 43:16, 18-19 NIV

The new has come! If you will just take a hold of it and apprehend it, you can experience true growth in God and freshness in your daily existence in 2020 and beyond.
