That's right, I spent my Easter morning with the homeless.
As most of you already know I used to be a Pastor at the Refuge homeless shelter until I stepped down in November of 2008 but, I still am an active Pastor there on any given Sunday as called.
As always I want to say thank you so much to all of you that pray for me, the team of volunteers, and this ministry in general. I thank you all in advance for all your prayers. I really appreciate them all more then I can even begin to express.
Words can't express how blessed and moved I am to be part of the Refuge ministry and to see how the Lord is working in such powerful ways through it.
Wow, today was such a great day of ministry for my team & myself.
I'm a little tired right now but I wanted to post this blog before I go do some things I have to take care of...LOL
Today was one of those special days and I would say there were about 200 homeless people that came out to have this Easter meal today.
To give you an idea of what my day at the shelter looks like I have enclosed some picture of my time at Easter with my homeless friends below.
We set up tents for our guests.
We fed them a great Easter meal with all the fixings.
We had lots of food to give out.
Some of the volunteers even cut people's hair for our homeless friends for free of course.
As our friends leave the shelter we were at the ready with some gifts for them, we call these gifts "love bags"
These "love bags" contain the simple things in life like, tooth paste, a tooth brush, soap, shampoo, socks, a blanket, a back pack to put everything in, and much more. I believe these simple items are the very thing most of us take for granted on any given day, but my homeless friends don't take these items for granted and they cherish each item they get with a feeling that they are loved and that they are not forgotten.
It brings me to tears every Sunday when I get home, I love my homeless friends!
All in all, everything went great and our homeless friends got their meal and were very greatful for it.
May you all know that I appreciate all of you here that support me in my ministry. I am so very thankful to all of you here at AAG for your prayers for the ministry!
