When you meet fellow christians, the first question they ask you is "Are you saved?" Of course I'm saved is always the answer. I asked a student of mine whether she was saved and the answer was "Yes". I further asked her what she understood by being saved. She said that she has accepted Jesus Christ as the Lord and Saviour of her life.
Our coversation took a different turn when the topic on Heaven was raised. I was amazed at her conviction that getting to heaven was very easy, 'you only need to be saved'... It was like being saved was a passport to heaven, 'once you say that you are saved, heaven is guaranteed'. I asked her if she has faith in Jesus Christ and she said she wouldn't have been saved if she didn't have faith. Here I am with an 18 year old telling me how easy it is to enter Heaven.
Brothers and sisters, I need your help here. Is it that simple? ... I tried to let her know that, just saying you are saved is not an automatic entry into heaven but I need supporting evidence to convince her that it isn't as easy as she thinks.
If one is saved, one should live according to the Word because we are judged by it. Jesus Christ has told us in His Word, that, He is the Way, the Truth and the Life and no one comes to the Father except through Him. (John 14:6)
I might be wrong in my thinking that there is more to being saved than she thinks.
Please help!

Thank you Feetbreeze, for being so helpful. I'll surely check up these links.
God bless.
Sorry, but I have to put one more scripture(my fav. :-). Heb. 13:5-6 I hope that scripture helps.
Sorry, I know that looks like John 1:9, the one is on the line before it, 1 John 1:9
Lina, I just have to post this verse. I don't know if it's the Holy Spirit urging me or I'm just excited. You're saying you should trust Him in everything, sister God has just the perfect scripture for you!
Proverbs 3:5-6 :-)
Sister, we mess up we're only human. But, that's ok because of His grace! The Holy Spirit helps us repent but if we mess up it'll be ok because of His grace. And sister I know what you mean. I've tried too hard (there's posts on here that probably prove that). The Holy Spirit has reminded me time after time of 2 Corinth. 12:9 http://bible.cc/2_corinthians/12-9.htm
His grace is what we need for all of us mess up every day. But, I hope this helps http://bible.cc/1_john/1-9.htm 1 John 1:9
God bless you Amanda. I've just read the recommended link and I have no doubt in my mind that He has my back covered. Praise be to His Holy name!
Thanks Richard, Amanda and Feetbreeze. I am so grateful for the references. They've been very helpfu[ and my mind is at ease. Ever since that discussion, I've been very uncertain about my future. I guess I should trust Him in everything, including keeping me where I belong.
Since I was saved, I've been struggling to follow the ways of the Lord but many a times I falter. Maybe I shouldn't try too hard because the only perfect man that ever walked this earth is our Lord Himself.
Amanda, thanks for the link. After reading it, I'll read and try to digest brother Richard's references.
Feetbreeze thanks for the clarity.
I cant wait to share this good news with my young friend. God bless you all.
Hi Sister Lina,
Couple more verses to consider...... Ephesians 8:2, "For by grace you have been saved THROUGH FAITH (my caps); and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God."
I believe that the Holy Spirit gives a measure of faith to answer John 3:16.....and to claim the unmerited favor from God.....the gift of salvation. Then the new believer enters into a period of Sanctification (1 Corinthians 1:30).
Jesus told His disciples that faith is like a mustard seed.....the smallest seed in the garden. Our faith starts off small and weak....enough to get us started..... but it must grow in quality and quantity..... like a mustard plant - which can grow to 9 ft. tall.
Hebrews 11:6 starts out," And without faith it is impossible to please Him........".
Finally, Revelation 17:14 ends with, "..............and those who are with Him are the called and the chosen and FAITHFUL (my caps).
To me, that's how critical our faith must grow.....our trust, assurance, and.........love.
Grace and peace.
Of course that's all that's needed precious sister. :-) I look at it this way. I've wondered in the past about my salvation. What comes to mind? My salvation is on my Rock. If my salvation is in His hands than I have no reason to question it. It couldn't be in better hands. :)
As for works. I've learned any rightousness or "good works" is from the Holy Spirit. We won't get any further in works without Him.
Yes, sister it really is that simple.
