Today as you go through your day what is your vision telling you? Do your eyes seem to be blurry in seeing others? The guy who cut you off in traffic today was really helping cloud your vision right? The clerk in the store with the wild haircut, how did she appear to you? Your husband/ wife now there is someone who can really give you vision difficulty. Did your eyes focus this morning on Jesus or on you this morning?
From the moment we get up in the morning our eyes start focusing on us. What we will wear that day. How do we deal with our wife, husband, or children? Who we will deal with at work? Who will we deal with on the ride to work? Our vision is obstructed by our self. So how do we as Christians take our focus off of ourselves and onto God instead?
First, the privilege of prayer is something we must never take for granted. It is such a powerful means of talking and sharing with our God. So meaningful that when the disciples asked how to pray Jesus gave them what has come to be known as “The Lord’s Prayer” Matthew 6: 9-13. So from the moment we get up in the morning we should work on making it a habit to share our” first fruits” of the day, waking and seeing and breathing with the Lord.
I think I must say that for me, to love Jesus is not enough for me. I say that I am in love with Jesus because I am in Christ. There is a big difference here. Totally committed to “following” Christ requires us to give up love of self. We must place our eyesight on him and focus it completely on Jesus. Is this something we can just do? Well the disciples did it didn’t they. Jesus said “Follow me” and they did. Our eyesight, our vision must follow Jesus. Does this mean I must pack up everything and go somewhere? Sometimes, it does mean that. Only through deep meaningful unselfish prayer will we learn God’s path for us. I have learned to value God’s gift of patience and wisdom more than any silver or gold. “Love is patient”. God is love.
I ask God to keep my eyesight on him. I want to be able to see the beauty of the heart that belongs to the girl with the half bald head and bright pink hair on top. Remember that it is not my job to criticize other drivers.
I am in love with Jesus and committed to him. My eyesight was cloudy this morning. But, Praise God I have not stayed in the cloud of darkness.

Brother
It seems that we have such a special gift as humans. To be able to see ourselves without a mirror. We seem at times to have one foot where it should be, the other not. At first the crack between them does not appear to be that big. Yet, we all discover it soon begins to expand. And, at some point we must make that choice. On which side will we stand? What was blurry becomes crystal clear. That crack is a chasm; schism and we must stand on one side or the other. For if we do not the "fall" is far.
Thank you JM for this insight {pardon the pun}. And, Lina for adding yours. You both are sharing Truth, and I am Blessed by you both. May the Lord of Host Richly Bless and Keep you both.
JM, you are so right, the thought of self clouds our eyes and we fail to see what we really need to see. I agree with you, that when we start our day with God, we go through the day with open minds and heart. Exprience has taught me that a day started with worries about self almost always turns out badly.
We thank God that He is there for us and we should seek Him in honesty and in faith. Unworthy though I am, He loves me and I shouldn't take His love for granted.
God bless you, brother for sharing.
