For this is what the LORD says— he who created the heavens, he is God; he who fashioned and made the earth, he founded it; he did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited— he says: “I am the LORD, and there is no other.Isaiah 45:18
One picturesque day I had the pleasure of enjoying family and friends during a gathering where we mixed, mingled and enjoyed the fellowship of one another. Reflecting back over the day’s chitchat, one conversation in particular still resonates in my head; the powers and wonders of all mighty God. The dialogue focused on how great God is. Everyone was in unanimous agreement of God’s wonderful, countless, and limitless works; how He molded & shaped nine planets, placing them in their orbit, with earth, millions of miles from the sun yet just right for life to reside in the world. We touched upon how God placed in each animal the ability to forage food, and never want for anything. Can you picture a bird perched on top a tall (East Texas or Georgia) pine tree and how it can catch sight of a tiny insect in the grass? In a blink of an eye, the bird’s swift motion claims its prey. These are just a few of many marvelous and amazing things from God. Often times we take God’s amazing grander for granted because it has always been this way, it is nature. While pondering over the myriad of God’s creation I make an effort to think of songs that best represent God’s majestic masterpieces. The first song that came to mind was “How Great Thou Art” penned by Stuart K. Hines. I did not need to think of any other song – The first verse eloquently sums it up:
“O Lord my God I in awesome wonder consider all the worlds Thy hands have made I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, the power through out the universe displayed. Then sing my soul my savior God to thee how Great Thou Art.”
God, you are amazing! Thank you Lord for the wonderful things you have created, from the microscopic to the stars in the heavens and everything in between. We have taken you and many of your creations for granted. Remind us daily of your beauty. Amen.
