Hearing God's Voice??

I've been hearing a lot lately that I should be hearing Jesus' voice speaking to me. I'm not quite sure I know what that means. Is that Him actually talking to me like a human being does....or is that Him speaking to me threw the words which are written in the Bible which is God's word???
