When Jesus came and walked as a man, He had a human nature.
Heb 2:18 Because Jesus experienced temptation when he suffered, he is able to help others when they are tempted.
Heb 4:15 We have a chief priest who is able to sympathize with our weaknesses. He was tempted in every way that we are, but he didn't sin.
Over and over again Jesus said, “I haven't come from heaven to do what I want to do. I've come to do what the one who sent me wants me to do.” John 6:38
He tells us also many times, “So those who do not carry their crosses and follow me cannot be my disciples.” Luke 14:27 Many of us from time to time want to know what that means. So we are also told this way, Matt 16:24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, "Those who want to come with me must say no to the things they want, pick up their crosses, and follow me.
Then in verse 33 it is clear In the same way, none of you can be my disciples unless you give up everything.
We follow Jesus and His example, not trusting our own strength but His and the Father’s.
Not on our own understanding, but trusting in God. Not wanting the things of our flesh, seeking the things of the Spirit. Keeping our minds on as in Phil 4:4-9 4 Always be joyful in the Lord! I'll say it again: Be joyful! 5 Let everyone know how considerate you are. The Lord is near. 6 Never worry about anything. But in every situation let God know what you need in prayers and requests while giving thanks. 7 Then God's peace, which goes beyond anything we can imagine, will guard your thoughts and emotions through Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brothers and sisters, keep your thoughts on whatever is right or deserves praise: things that are true, honorable, fair, pure, acceptable, or commendable.
9 Practice what you've learned and received from me, what you heard and saw me do. Then the God who gives this peace will be with you.
These things like all the rest are what we work at doing. Not by our strength but, working at them. Having our minds set on these things. We all have reasons why, all of this seems impossible. Matt 19:26 Jesus looked at them and said, "It is impossible for people [to save themselves], but everything is possible for God."
Faith is what we do not see, Trust in God is what we are asked to do. To believe in far more then ourselves. Beyond what we can understand, that is where we find Faith. Not in our minds, not in our hurts, but past all those things that may try to hinder us. Standing up and believing in what is unseen. A Love that has conquered death. That is the Hope for which we are given, freely given. We do the best we can to honor that. We did not earn or deserve that kind of Love but, that is the kind of Love that we are given.
