Happy New Year, 2015…
Well, another Christmas is over; a New Year has begun.
The past year brought turmoil that left pain with everyone.
The loss of loved ones, that broke our hearts and made us weep;
trials and tribulations, and dreams we couldn’t keep.
I reminisce over good times and bad;
and times when my heart was made to feel sad.
As I ponder it all, I see blessings in disguise;
friends God sent to wipe tears from my eyes.
I see the innocence on the face of a newborn child;
God sent to bring joy, and to make a mother smile
There were times of broken hearts and times of gladness.
Times of joy and times of sadness.
There were times when we wanted to run away and hide,
from the troubles we witnessed with our own eyes.
All the wars and murders by the terrorist’s hands,
the lawlessness creeping all over our land.
Now, a New Year approaches as we made it through the last one.
We all had some good times; some laughter and fun.
We all had some bad times, some sickness, and deaths;
times when we thought we would not stand the test.
We didn’t solve the racist problem, and I guess we never can;
as long as our Leaders add fire to the fan.
But we made a little progress so we dare not stop,
like we rescued some people from that mountain top.
We rescued some men from the terrorist jails,
we saved a few kids from the jaws of Hell.
We brought a few soldiers home to their families again.
We caught another terrorist before they could win.
We made it through the scandals and Political mess,
the burnings and lootings, and the Ferguson stress.
We dealt with Obama care, and Foreign Relations.
We survived tornadoes and disasters in our Nation.
We made it through the fires, the storms and the floods;
made it through Democrats and Republicans mud.
Times when our patience ran out, and our faith almost failed.
Still it’s been worth the trouble to know God prevailed.
I watched all the bad News time and time again;
Hoping the world’s troubles would come to an end.
I got tired of Politicians scrambling for my vote;
while they spewed false promises on the letters they wrote.
I got tired of protesters waving their banners;
fighting and screaming and showing bad manners.
I got tired of watching the casualties climb;
as if human life is not worth a dime.
I got tired of watching all the bad stuff;
I turned off the News, and said, “That’s enough.”
I said to myself, “I’ll try to make a change;
I’ll try to focus on the needs in my own domain.”
Not much has changed over the past year;
but when I cried, God still wiped my tears.
I thank God for the blessings He has sent my way;
and I still say, “Happy New Year,” to the world and the Great USA.
