All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

A child may stand in the kitchen already having taken a bite of the cookie he just took from the cookie jar and thinking that his Mom may have heard or seen him suddenly blurts out, “Mom, may I have a cookie?”.

As though asking after the fact will somehow make right his action.

Many treat the Lord the same way.

Often having consulted with family and friends about a desire or decision that we have already set in motion, we decide to ask the Lord when the reality of the situation is that we are merely asking the Lord to co-sign for something that we have already or have promised to do.

Just as Adam and Eve could not unbite the forbidden fruit and the child cannot unbite the cookie, we can not make the results of our actions magically disappear.

Yet, many find themselves in situations and circumstances daring to get angry with the Lord over matters that might easily have been avoided had the individual first sought the counsel of the Lord.

Some do not ask the Lord first because within they know that what they are seeking is contrary to scripture as though not asking the Lord first somehow absolves them of responsibility or accountability.

Others convince themselves that they have been given an opportunity that no reasonable person would refuse as justification for not seeking the guidance of the Lord.

If the Holy Spirit is seeking to get your attention because of a decision or decisions you have made no amount of pious platitudes of , “I'm praying about it” will satisfy the Lord and your attempts to ward off those He has sent your way by saying that will not stop the pricking of your heart by the Lord.

Only a determination and resolve to confess and repent of your sin and then go forward in obedience to the Lord as He directs you will bring the peace you seek.
