When we get an invitation to an event, gathering or happening, we know we are included and wanted...it feels good. Perhaps the greatest Inviter ever is God. Think of it: God created us and invited us into relationship with Him, to worship him and come and pray to him. In this last, I find great hope today.
You see, when we say 'yes, Lord, I will pray!' we are actually cooperating with God and he with us. Jesus said, "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you."1
No wonder Paul told us not to be anxious or worried, but instead to pray to God,2 concluding that he will give us the strength to do all things.3
When we work, we work; but when we pray, God works.4 A loving Heavenly Father cares to act in response to our prayers, isn't that a staggering notion?
What hope feels my heart to know that God has heard my prayers and he is at work. Jesus said, "My Father never stops working, and so I keep working, too.”5
So, let's pray!
Believing there is beauty in simplicity, here are eight words, or four very short prayers, that just might change your life~ "Save me... Search me... Mold me... Use me." Easy to remember, easy to understand~
Lord, Save me - from the Scripture verse, "Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shall be saved."6 'I want to be your child, God, and I realize that it is the work of Jesus on the cross that makes that possible. Save me from life without you, O God, I pray.'
Search me - from David: "Search me, and know my heart; try me and know my thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."7 Friend, let God shine his revealing light into your life, as I do mine: 'God, I give you access to my heart, my mind, my ways - please show me what I need to confess, and what I need to change . . . I want my life to honor you.'
Mold me - from Jeremiah, who wrote "I went down to the potter's house..." 'God, I surrender myself to you. Like clay on the potter's wheel, I want to be molded into what you would have me be. Rather than letting the world squeeze me into its mold, shape me to be more like you.' Jeremiah 18
Use me - "Then I heard the Lord asking, 'Whom shall I send as a messenger to this people?' Isaiah responded with, 'Here I am. Send me.'"8
'Lord, I want my life to be significant as you created me with greatness in mind. Save me, search me, mold me, and then use me for good. Plant your dream in my heart ... use me for your glory! Amen'
Prayed in earnest, these eight simple words will change you ... they will transform your life and infuse each day with beautiful hope as you see the hand of God move! Friends, God is always at work! We must never forget that. What great hope is found in this truth ... Come What May. Listen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gFFvqM1-kY
I wonder what God is doing right now
in answer to your earnest prayers.
