All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

A lot of us in our early years with Christ find that we are self-centred instead of being God-centred. We do not allow certain parts of Christ into our relationship because it does not fit into our everyday life. We have to learn to re-align our thoughts and meditate on what it is that is controlling our everyday living and decide what is more important, God, or whatever it is that is slowing our journey with him. You have to remember that God does not give us multiple choices. You’re either with him, or you’re not! It’s as simple as that.

The trouble is that many of us choose other things as our God.

It could be that our God is “Money” because we want the latest technology, holiday’s, latest trends in fashion etc. Some of us have this built-in fear that keeps telling us that we must make as much money as possible in the shortest time possible so that we can then relax and enjoy it’s rewards.

Make money your god and it will plague you like the devil. This was said by the novelist “Henry Fielding” but you only have to look at the scriptures where you will find dozens of mentions about money.

1 Timothy 6:7-10 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. (KJV)

Just look at gambling, some people gamble at casinos, on the horses, the dogs, football,(the pools) the lottery etc. There are very few people who make a happy living or life out of gambling, except the people who run the gambling companies, especially the upsurge of the gambling on the Internet. The internet has been good for communication around this globe, but, like most things in this world, you get your abusers. There are very few websites that are free from adverts trying to get you to part with your money. Even if you just want to look at details of what’s on at the theatre, cinema, and even now some of the religious websites for guidance, you will now find adverts offering you everything from zero interest free credit if you have this and that credit card, free mobile phones if you take out a new tariff or sign up for two plus years or more, free M&S vouchers if you sign up with us etc, etc. Satan is everywhere and he is determined to get you to follow him. Jesus however, is able to sympathize with our weakness because he was tempted in every way possible.

Jesus Christ was tempted by the Devil throughout his ministry. The Bible says: "...but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are -- yet was without sin." (Heb 4:15) The temptations of Jesus were real. The Bible says: "Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted." (Heb 2:18) From the temptations of Jesus in Matt.4: 1-11 we can learn two important things: First, to know the process of temptation, and Second, how to overcome temptation.

John 10:10 The thief (Satan) cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. (KJV)

The devil has a plan for you in life, but so has God. I have areas in my life that I know that God does not like, but were working on it.

James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (KJV)

Please remember this. Nothing in this life is free. Unless you bring Jesus into your life. He’s free, doesn’t cost you anything but the rewards are endless and forever. His love is unconditional and is a free gift to us all.

Amen William

Until Jesus is the very center of our lives we won't amount to anything useful .

God bless

Well said. Very accurate expression about early Christianity growth or lack thereof.
