All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Hello Elijah fans,
I did a study on the prayers of Elijah, I wanted to see how he prayed. He had such power when he prayed. God listened and answered his prayers. It seems like when he asked God in prayer, God would listen and answer his prayers. That is important, because in the word of God it says a rightous persons prayers will be " powerful and effective."
In 1 Kings 17:1-6 it said that Elijah said to Ahab, "As the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, whom I serve, there will be neither dew nor rain in the next few years except at my word."
Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah: "Leave here, turn east word and hide in the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordon. You will drink from the brook, and I have ordered the ravens to feed you there."
So he did what the Lord had told him. He went to the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordon, and stayed there. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook.
Some time later the brook dried up because there had been no rain in the land. Then the word of the Lord came to him: "Go at once to Zarephath of Sidon and stay there. I have commanded a widow in that place to supply you with food.
This is why people should serve the Lord, he will take care of them. All through the bible you see examples how God takes care of his people.
When the widow that Elijah was staying with son died. Elijah cried out to the Lord,"O Lord my God, have you brought tragedy also upon this widow I am staying with, by causing her son to die ? Then he stretched himself out on the boy three times and cried to the Lord " O Lord my God, let this boy's life return to him !"
The Lord heard Elijah's cry, and the boy's life return to him, and he lived. Now that is the power of prayer if we pray right and are serving the Lord. I was studying and wanted to know why Elijah layed on that boy three times. I found out that the number three is sometimes accociated with God's mighty power. That is why I think Elijah layed on him three times.
When Elijah had the contest with the prophets Baal. He again said to the people to fill four large jars with water and pour it on the offering and on the wood. He had them do it three times, just like he did when he layed on the boy three times. Then Elijah stepped forword and prayed: " O Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command. Answer, me, O Lord, answer me, so these people will know that you, O Lord, are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again." Then the fire of the Lord fell and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soil, and also licked up the water in the trench.
When all the people saw this, they fell prostrate and cried, " The Lord- he is God ! The Lord- he is God ! i think that is what God wants his people to do today. He wants them to turn back to him, and then he will take away this reccesion. If you think about it and study about Elijah, I believe that you will find out the same thing. That God wants us to turn from our sins and turn back to him. Any one who does a study and wants to share what they have learned wth others. Then leave it in my comments so others can read it.

God bless and serve the Lord!
