Earthquake on West Sumatera-Indonesia 30 September

The September 2009 Sumatra earthquake was a 7.6 Mw earthquake which took place in Sumatra, Indonesia, at 17:16:10 local time on September 30, 2009. The quake struck at sea, and is 50 kilometres (31 mi) WNW of Padang, Sumatra, Indonesia, 225 kilometres (140 mi) SW of Pekanbaru, Sumatra, Indonesia, 475 kilometres (295 mi) SSW of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and 960 kilometres (600 mi) NW of Jakarta, Java, Indonesia.

At least 100-200 people have been killed as a result of the earthquake with thousands more believed to be trapped in collapsed buildings.



No help has arrived yet. Some people are looking for relatives but all the lights have gone out completely.Other eyewitness accounts said people fled on to the streets as buildings collapsed.

"Hundreds of houses have been damaged along the road," Reuters quoted a witness as saying. "There are some fires, bridges are cut and there is extreme panic here because water pipes are broken and there is flooding in the streets."

Please we need pray for the victim, i heard crying, screaming from the television. Pray for people touched by God's love to them. Most of West Sumatera is Islam, they need to be save.

Here is an update from National Disaster Management Agency,related with West Sumatra earthquake in Padang or Pariaman Indonesia:

- 608 people is killed, 343 people is still missing, 596 victims were seriously injured and 897 people are slightly injured.

- Total 88,272 units inhabitant are damaged. It consist of 43,323 units which completely destroyed and 47,076 units were slightly damaged. Worst damage is seen in the city of Padang and Padang Pariaman.
