Abortion has become a "back burner" issue. People are concerned about their jobs, the economy, health care, terrorism, the war in Iraq and Afghanistan and other issues. I understand that. My wife has been out of a job for over a year. I understand. And we have an administration in Washington that seems to me to be making things worse.
So why should anyone care about abortion? Because it is NOT just another issue. Babies are being murdered. 4,000 a day.
When people tell me (especially Christians) they believe abortion is murder but they don't have the right to tell a woman NOT to have an abortion because they can't understand the plight of the woman seeking an abortion it boggles my mind. If abortion is wrong it's wrong. If it's murder it's wrong. Period.
We don't tolerate girls who abandon their babies in trash dumpsters or public bathrooms or public parks. We get outraged when Susan Smith or Andrea Yates murder their children. But abortion is just one of "those issues." If it doesn't concern me I won't get involved.
Did it ever occur to anyone that the reason there are so many problems in our country is because we have tolerated the killing of unborn children for the past 36 years and God is fed up?
Does anyone care? Yes! God cares. And we better start caring.
