Christianity vs. the black art of psychiatry

Christianity is under attack in America. In the news, we are depicted as intolerant bigots, throwbacks who are out of touch with modern values or dangerous militia types. On television and in the cinema, Christians are generally portrayed as either foolish simpletons or dangerous psychopaths.

Although this assault upon the Christian faith has come from many directions, perhaps none has been more instrumental than that which has been directed against us by the black art of psychiatry. Read more>>

Veronika, reading through your comments here, I realized something I'd like to add concerning your notion that seems to imply mental disorders are not real. I just want to put out there that when I responded to your discussion-thread "should schizophrenic behavior be considered demon possessed," I didn't mean to suggest that I think psychological disorders don't exist. I believe they do, or that they are "real," to quote. By my understanding, biological or physical changes do occur in the central nervous system of many individuals who present psych symptoms. The idea I hoped to inject was that those biological changes often happen due to supernatural alterations, establishing a root cause for the biological changes and outward symptoms. In addition, I want to point out that I do agree medical professionals often overemphasize issues of behavior and prescribe way too many mind altering drugs.

By the way, again, that is a good video, thanks for sharing it!

I understand perfectly.

When I was 13 years old, they diagnosed me as being "hyperactive" among other things. They put me on Ritalin. Although I was not "hyper," the Ritalin made me so. They then upped my dose. After a few weeks, I stopped taking it. A 13 year old can only take so much dope.

I was much calmer after quitting it. This was reported and my parents (who did not know that I quit taking it) were told that I was "responding to the medication." They upped my dose again. I started taking it (and giving it to my friends) on the weekends when we used to do yard work in the neighborhood. We worked furiously thanks to the "speed."

If I learned to use drugs in my youth, I owed it all to the psychiatrist. Honestly, had he prescribed cannabis, I would have functioned better. I would have been able to sleep at night too.
