HARDSHIPS
According to the dictionary, a hardship is any thing that causes suffering of difficulty. There are many hardships: stress, distress. things that make you feel mad, sad, worried, anxious, annoyed, harassed, nervous, or feel threatened, rumored, slandered, mocked, when someone lies on you , or tries to deceive you; the list can go on, because there are many hardships.
But Almighty God called you to be a soldier, he called you to be a Good Soldier. 2 Tim. 2:3 not only did He call you to be a Good Soldier, He called you to "endure hardships" as a Good Soldier; in other words, a Good Soldier endures hardships; and I just told you what hardships are. Especially remember that hardships annoy you, are lies, deceptions, they are things made or created to cause you to worry, to cause you feel stressed, etc.
But 2 Tm. 2:3 says that you have been called by God to endure these hardships. Sometimes hardships can be negative talk, negative words or negative word phrases; sometimes it comes in the form of negative criticism or disrespect, but you must endure these hardships no matter how they come. Sometimes it's annoying noise or sounds, stalking, etc.; but you have to endure these hardships even when it's silent treatment.
If you don't believe that you have been called to be a Soldier read 2 Tim. 2:4. Not only are you a Soldier, you have been given Armor to fight with; read Eph. 6:11-20
At Eph. 6:12 we see that as Soldiers we 'wrestle'. Be careful here, even though it says 'not against flesh and blood' flesh and blood is included because all bodies have spirits, that's why it says 'against powers', 'against rulers of the darkness of this world'. In other words, your enemy includes evil human beings who have allowed themselves to be possesses (used) by evil spirits that come from the devil, that's why Jesus called some people 'devils'.
2 Cor. 10:4 lets us know that we are at war. 2 Cor. 10:4 calls it 'warfare'; then it goes on to say that we have 'weapons' to fight this fight with. Most of our fight is because 'the devil falsely accuses the brethren'. Make sure that you read 2 Cor. 10:4 entirely; it lets us know that our weapons are mighty, because God is in them; like God, they are spiritual (invisible).
these weapons 'pull down strongholds', they 'cast down imaginations, and every other thing that tries to exalt itself above the things of God Our weapons bring all our thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ (the Words of God).
The most important thing that I want you to know is that as Soldiers of God's Army we 'Endure' all hardships, but read 1 Tim. 6:12, we are fighters, we are fight the good fight of faith. Why, so that we can obtain Eternal Life. We are supposed to profess to other people who we are and why we do what we do. Our commission is to keep the commandments without blemish, spot, or wrinkle.
Soldiers of God are Sons of God; they are therefore treated by God as though they were His Sons. Heb. 12:7 lets us know that we are supposed to 'Endure Chastening', because God deals with us as Sons; and then it asks us 'what Son is he whom the Father chasteneth not'. Remember that you have been bought with a price; the precious blood of Jesus; you do not belong to yourself, you belong to Almighty God, Jehovah and Jesus Christ.
The devils say it differently, they call it being 'whipped'. But God does not 'whip' us, He chasteneths us. God calls it 'the chastening of the Lord' This chastening is important, because you have to know when you hear the voice of God and when you hear the voice of Satan the devil. That's why Jesus christ said, "my sheep hear my voice, follow me; and another voice they will not follow. Also read Ps. 1; this verse tells us that 'blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the evil or wicked ones'.
Again, the most important things I want to encourage you to know is that there are many 'hardships'; but as a Good Soldier of Almighty God you just have to 'Endure' them; none of that 'face it' stuff or any of that other stuff; you just have to 'Endure' hardships no matter in what form they come.
