CHRIST THE DESTROYER

1. Christ came to destroy the works of the devil. 1 John 3 : 8.

2. He was manifested to take away our sins. 1 John 3 : 5.

3. He came to put away sin by His sacrifice. Heb. 9 : 26

4. He came to redeem from all iniquity and to purify. Titus 2 :14.

5. The purpose of His death was to destroy the body of sin. Roman 6 : 6.

6. To be spiritually dead with Christ is to be free from sin. Roman 6 : 7.

Comment by PoiemaDei on February 20, 2010 at 11:52am: Thanks for reminding us of this great accomplishment by our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ for our salvation from sin. It is for us now to accept it by faith, by trusting and agreeing with the word of God that this is an accomplishment and not an unfinished work in us who believe and are born of God to become offspring of God.

I say this because it is evident that instead of proclaiming this good news as the Gospel too many proclaim a message of defeatism and ongoing dominance of sin in a believer's life. This is a distortion of the Gospel and it obviously lacks the true power of the real Gospel. As a result, we see a Christianity being reproduced by it of merely religious and church going and baptized sinners. And they glory in that.

The true Gospel, as you have presented it here, must create faith in the power of Jesus Christ, not only to forgive sin, but also to take away sin, to destroy the body of sin. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. This is the only Gospel which has power to save and deliver sinners from the bondage and dominion of sin and translate us from the power of darkenss into the righteousness of God in the Kingdom of God's dear Son.

Let us accept the grace of God to proclaim the Gospel, as well as to believe and live what we proclaim.
