Matt 15:21-28 21Jesus left that place and went to the region of Tyre and Sidon. 22 A Canaanite woman from that territory came [to him] and began to shout, "Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is tormented by a demon." 23 But he did not answer her at all. Then his disciples came to him and urged him, "Send her away. She keeps shouting behind us."24 Jesus responded, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of the nation of Israel." 25 She came to him, bowed down, and said, "Lord, help me!" 26 Jesus replied, "It's not right to take the children's food and throw it to the dogs." 27 She said, "You're right, Lord. But even the dogs eat scraps that fall from their masters' tables." 28 Then Jesus answered her, "Woman, you have strong faith! What you wanted will be done for you." At that moment her daughter was cured.
Also, in Mark 7:27-30 27 Jesus said to her, "First, let the children eat all they want. It's not right to take the children's food and throw it to the dogs." 28 She answered him, "Lord, even the dogs under the table eat some of the children's scraps." 29 Jesus said to her, "Because you have said this, go! The demon has left your daughter." 30 The woman went home and found the little child lying on her bed, and the demon was gone.
At first glance, this story seems to show Jesus in a light we are not accustomed to. Yet, we know from the teachings of Paul, God was including the Gentiles in the Sacrifice of Jesus. But, certain steps had to be taken first. Rom 15:8 Let me explain. Christ became a servant for the Jewish people to reveal God's truth. As a result, he fulfilled God's promise to the ancestors of the Jewish people. Jesus was sent to fulfill what God had Promised. Rom 15:12 And again, Isaiah said, “There shall be a root of Jesse and he who shall rise shall be The Ruler of the nations, and upon him the nations shall hope.” Col 2:14 having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross. Eph 2:14-16 14 For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, 15 by abolishing in his flesh the law with its commandments and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace, 16 and in this one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. As I began to study the meaning of Col2:14 and Eph2:14-16 We see how God honors His Word. We can see the extraordinary steps that had to be taken so the Gentiles would be able to benefit from the actions of Jesus. As I studied this from a different view, why Jesus had said those words; that way. It had to do with events so very long ago. Yet, we see something so very Powerful. Because, of her Faith, the Faith of the Centurion. That my friends is how we truly are able to get things done with God. Faith, when Mary told Jesus of the wine. Faith, when the Centurion understood just how Authority worked. Faith, when this Mom needed her child delivered, even after being told NO! and in the words Jesus used, Faith gave her the confidence to respond to Jesus. Knowing what I do about Jesus, I can see His Love and His Smile when/as she continued to make her case for her son. Faith, Faith,Faith, my Family I can not tell you just how strong this is. The Power that is ours but for the taking/Believing, reach out there. Dare to Believe. We do not have the limitations that these strong Faith filled people had. Look what they were able to acquire, by Believing and having Faith in Jesus. I am so encouraged by this, Holy Spirit had never shown me, or I had not taken the time to see, how all the dots when connected shows us just how Faith does truly work. And, God keeps His Word and fulfills His Promises, and is willing to go to such extreme measures to do so. So you see if He will do these things for a old law. Allowing Jesus to be nailed to the Cross, and the handwritten note that Pilate also nailed to that Cross, making all this possible. My dear Family He did those things for us. He did those things for His children, that He Loves us so very much. Now what we are to do is just celebrate, celebrate and have Faith in His Love. I may not of explained all this as well as some, but I have included as is proper the excerpt from Gills, and Clarke’s Commentaries and they will explain the legal side of what I am sharing today. Go ahead take that leap of Faith. Trust that His Love is there for us, to supply our needs, to give us seed for sowing. Supply us with an abundance so we are able to share and be of help to those in need. Rejoice, Rejoice again I say Rejoice.
Gills Exposition- nailing it to his cross: to the cross of Christ, showing that the abolition of it is owing to the cross of Christ; where and when he bore the curse and penalty of the law for his people, as well as answered all the types and shadows of it: it is thought to be an allusion to a custom in some countries, to cancel bonds, or antiquate edicts and decrees, by driving a nail through them, so that they could not be legible any more: or it may be to the writing of Pilate, which contained the charge and accusation against Christ; and which was placed over his head upon the cross, and fastened to it with nails
Clarke’s Commentary- Nailing it to his cross - When Christ was nailed to the cross, our obligation to fulfill these ordinances was done away. There may be another reference here to some ancient mode of annulling legal obligations, by nailing them to a post; but I do not recollect at present an instance or example. Antiquated laws are said to have been thus abrogated.
