[My Disclaimer: I'm an avid reader of many diverse blogs about faith, theology and the Bible presenting a wide range of views. Occasionally I come across some blogs that are particularly interesting, insightful and thought-provoking, which I like to share and discuss with others. That doesn't mean I necessarily endorse or agree with anything or everything that the blogger has written. Always use discernment and "test all things," as the Apostle Paul says, in light of Scripture. With that in mind and the caveat that your mileage may vary, here's what I'm reading today.]

Christine+Aslan: It's interesting to note that the Apostle Paul's most uplifting and optimistic epistle (Philippians) was written when he was suffering in prison. Paul took a long-term view of things and didn't let short-term obstacles and setbacks dim his optimism. He likened his life to running in a long-distance race for a prize: the blessings of the Gospel; eternal life.
1 Corinthians 9:24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only
one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.
Philippians 3:14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has
called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
1 Corinthians 9:23 I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share
in its blessings.
