“Between now and then”
Somewhere across this valley, I’ll reach my finial home.
I’ll hear the angels singing; look upon God’s golden throne.
Someday I’ll bid farewell to this fleshly coat of sin.
But I still have a ways to go, between now and then.
I still have mountains yet to climb before I get there.
I have unfinished tasks, Godly things I need to share.
I have troubled days ahead, and trials I can’t win.
I have deserts yet to cross between now and then.
I get discouraged when my world turns upside down.
At times I get frightened at the evil all around.
I’m racing to the finish line; it could be around the next bend.
Just a few more laps to run, between now and then.
I feel my ship sinking as the winds tip my sails;
As I fight for control on life’s sea of stormy gales.
But Jesus is my Captain until the voyage ends;
And there are just a few more waves, between now and then.
(Mae Buckel 2013)
1 Corinthians 9:24
Know you not that they who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? So run, that you may obtain.
