BECOMING SALT AND LIGHT IN THE WORLD

“You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people, that you may declare the wonderful deeds of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” (1 Peter 2:9)
“Let your light shine before men, that they may see your fine works and give glory to your Father who is in the heaven.” ( Mathew 5:16 )
“In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” ( John 1:4-5 )
“There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man.” ( John 1: 9 )
“For you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light.” ( Ephesians 5:8 )

Darkness can never overcome light, no matter how dark it is, light overcomes it.

When I think of the dark moral climate in the world where it feels like we are being pressed in on all sides with the darkness of a sinful world, I love the thought that we have a light within us that nothing can extinguish. It is the light of Christ! Many have tried to extinguish the light, but they failed miserably.

It seems that the more the Devil tries to extinguish the light of the Gospel, the more light there is. I have heard so many stories about the underground church in China and other oppressed countries, and that no amount of persecution and oppression has stopped the light of the Gospel from reaching the masses.

Nothing will ever be able to extinguish the light of the world as long as the Holy Spirit, and the Body Of Christ are here on the Earth.

A children's song says, “ This little light of mine, I'm going to let it shine, let it shine, let it shine,” this should be our greatest desire as Christians to shine the light of Christ in our own world where we live every day.

As we live lives that are pleasing to God, then unbelievers in our workplace, our school, and our neighborhood will see our good works,( or His good work in us ) and many will come to know the Lord and bring glory to God.

In Ephesians 2:10 Paul says, "For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God which God prepared in advance for us to do."

Shining consists in doing good works as we are enabled by the Holy Spirit.
It is doing righteousness, the exact opposite of what the world does.

In other words, our goal is that the unbelieving world may see something that is different in us.

By living a consecration life set apart unto God, by being filled with the Word of God, and with the Holy Spirit, we will then be salt and light in this world.
