be content!

As Christians God wants us to be content with what we have so we won't fall into the trap of covetous. You know desiring things that you don't have pretty much and wanting what other people have. It can be for us Christians very easily for us to fall into that temptation. Because with that kind of temptation we start looking all around at what other people have and what we don't have. Instead of looking to God who gives us the power to get wealth. As the word of God says in Deuteronomy 8:18-And you shall remember the Lord your God," for it is He who gives you power to get wealth.Let's look at a person who can help us avoid walking into covetousness and that person is King Ahab. We will be using 1 King 21:1-And it came to pass after these things that Naboth the Jezreelite had a vineyard which was in Jezreel, next to the palace of Ahab king of Samaria. You It is amazing that sometimes God plants us around the people of the world to test us and see what we will do. As the word of God says in Judges 2:22- so that through them I may test Israel, whether they will keep the ways of the Lord, to walk in them as their fathers kept them, or not.” But back to 1 King 21:2-So Ahab spoke to Naboth, saying, “Give me your vineyard, that I may have it for a vegetable garden, because it is near, next to my house; and for it I will give you a vineyard better than it. Or, if it seems good to you, I will give you its worth in money.” Saints can I ask you a question why in the world would Ahab want Naboth's vineyard , when he is the king of Israel and he can have anything he wants? Well I think that explains covetousness. Because he has everything pretty much and still not content. And this is why God is calling us out of that spirit. You know the devil tried to make Jesus covet when he was trying to offer him the world.As the word of God says in Luke 4:5-7-Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him^[d] all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. ⁶ And the devil said to Him, “All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. ⁷ Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours.” Thank the Lord Jesus who show us how to submit to God and resist the devil and he will flee. as it says in the word of God in James 4:7. But back to King Ahab in 1 King 20: 3-But Naboth said to Ahab, “The Lord forbid that I should give the inheritance of my fathers to you!” and 1 King 21:4-So Ahab went into his house sullen and displeased because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him; for he had said, “I will not give you the inheritance of my fathers.” And he lay down on his bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no food. Saints look at the attitude that covetousness produces , you can clearly see that it leads us with not being content nor be grateful for what we have. God even tells us that if we have a desire for wealth it leads to sorrow. As the word of God says in 1 Timothy 6:9,10- But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. So how do we overcome this trap. We simply began to look at these things in new eyes and a new perspective . As the word of God says in 2 Corinthians 4:18- while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. And also what the word says in Luke 12:20,21-But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided? “So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.” That voice of covetousness is speaking so much that people are giving up on God and making all kinds of deals with the world just for temporary treasures. But Lord will provide for us if we trust in him to do so and also handle money the correct way. Such as tithing and offering and giving to the poor. As the Malachi 3 :10-Bring all the tithes into the storehouse,
That there may be food in My house,
And try Me now in this,”
Says the Lord of hosts,
“If I will not open for you the windows of heaven
And pour out for you such blessing
That there will not be room enough to receive it. Believe in Jesus that he will provide for you and that you will live your life with being content and not with covetousness. All covetousness does is just leave you with vain desires that don't even satisfy .Because if the things of the world do satisfy than people wouldn't be greedy for more. But the word of God says we are complete in Jesus and promises that if we come to him we will never hunger or thirst again. As the word of God says in Colossians 2:10 and John 6:35. Let God's bread ( his word )fill your life up that you can turn your eyes away from what is worthless. As the word of God says in Psalm 119:36- Incline my heart to Your testimonies,
.And not to covetousness. and Psalm 119:37- Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things,
And revive me in Your way. Saints God wants us to keep our heart align with him , so we won't go astray with the lusts of our desires and the world. As the word of God says in Galatians 5:24-And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.May God's grace be with you in Jesus Name. Amen. And P.S Be happy as long as you have food and clothing in your house. As the word of God says in 1 Timothy 6:8- And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content.
