The fourth principle that will determine our authority level is our connection to and identification with God's heart. This is often overlooked. God gives authority to those who think the way He thinks and want what He wants. God allows us to feel what He feels and to identify with it at an acute level. This gives Him the ability to trust a person. If He knows we will do what He wants, and not our own thing, He can trust us with more responsibility and greater authority.
Jesus said "He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him." ( John 8:29 ) Jesus always endeavored to find out what the Father wanted and then to fulfill His pleasure. We must do the same.
Before Nehemiah was given authority to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem, he first went through four months of grieving over the city's condition. It says in ( NEHEMIAH 1:4 ) "So it was ,when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned for many days; I was fasting and praying before the God of heaven." The prerequisire to the Lord's conferring upon him the authority to change the situation was his allowing God to impart to him His heart for Jerusalem. Afterward, Nehemiah was given not only the assignment but also great favor and provision from the Persian king, Artaxerxes. Favor, provision, and authority following the receiving of God's heart.
