All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Do you ask God for answers to all your questions? Maybe you are one of a large number who suppress some of their questions, hoping that God won't notice they are wondering. This might happen to you when you have a question about the meaning of a scripture. Often, people think that God expects them to simply understand what is written since, after all, they are a child of God; therefore, they should not have trouble making sense of His Holy Word, right? When this happens, it's time to tell yourself this very simple thing...stop thinking and let God work! Our thoughts are so deceptive and we fail to acknowledge that very fact when we need to most. Sometimes we need to just not think. Sound nuts? Well, it's true. Thinking too much can cause terrible confusion, confusion we would not have if we would just stop, at least for a time. Furthermore, don't think you can hide your disadvantaged cognition from the One who has full knowledge, even having numbered the hairs on your head. God knows your lack of understanding already. He wants us to come to Him for the answers. He does not want us to try to hide in pride what we do not know. God is the one who holds all the answers, and He loves us. Therefore, who better to ask than Him? What are you waiting for? He’s waiting for your willingness to ask Him. He delights in providing us answers. Go to him in all your humbleness. Virtue is the opposite of shame, and it is virtuous to seek God’s will. Therefore, honor Him with your questions. God encourages us to ask Him and thereby to learn His truth, and no one knows the answers better than He who represents them perfectly and completely.

Jhn 15:15 No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.

((( He is our friend ))) !! How awesome is that! Friendship is a position of honor; otherwise, Jesus would not have called us His friends. Jesus was interested, and still is interested, in building us up in every relatable aspect we can think of rather than to depress us, or tear us down. He was saying that by sharing with us His vantages He was acting His part in the friend relationship, which suggests that to rank as someone's friend is to be perceived honorable by that person (shown by the sharing of strengths). Similarly, by identifying Jesus as our friend we are honoring Him with our lives, wanting to share with Him all that we are and all that we wish to become. Our befriending Jesus also suggests that we wish to honor Him with our munificent service.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting that Jesus be viewed as our equal in a friend relationship; rather, I'm saying that while Jesus is certainly Lord, He willfully chose to grant us this very high position called friend in order to indicate His perfect character and love for us. He even went so far as to wash His disciples' feet in order to exemplify what it means to love our neighbors (or our friends). Jesus is of perfect love. He desires that we choose to love Him in the same way, and that we will elevate Him in praise and good deeds.

Hi Chip, I talk to Jesus all the time exactly like He's my best friend, because that's who He is. Many times when I was at my place of work I would speak to Him aloud! I'd even joke with Him :) It's such a joy to have someone always by your side, no matter where you are or what you're doing. My collegues used to look at me funny and say "who are you talking to?" Or, they would say to each other, there she goes talking to herself again. So, I may seem a bit weird, but that's alright by me...I know to whome I am talking, and I know He hears me. As for remaining humble and respectful toward Jesus, that will come automatically when conversing with Him...that is, as long as it's to Him you speak. The Holy Spirit will guide your thoughts, trust Him. If you feel a conviction over a particular thought, you can bet your boots you should refrain from applying that idea in face of the Lord. Simply trust, honor, and confide in Him. Jesus loves you! Nothing, not even you can change the heart of Jesus, hallelujah! Amen!
