All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

” ….and the word of the Lord came…and that word became flesh”.

Scriptural Readings: Galatians 3:16-29; John 1:1-4; John 3:16

“And the word of the Lord”…. All of us must put the weight on what this phrase means. During the time of the old testament, God conveyed the messages to His people through appointed persons. He had to use other people to reach His message for us. And these persons will start telling the messages with the sentence “and the word of the Lord came to me”.

Our Father always has a message for us. From the very beginning when our first parents were created, humanity was enjoying His company. Words, yes, those same words that came out from His mouth that created the heavens and the earth were enjoyed by our first parents by having a conversation with Almighty God. As we all know, this relationship became difficult for us because of the mistake of choosing what they think was best for them, and as the result, God decided that He will separate us from Him making it impossible to reach Him although he never cut His communication with us.

King James Version

Galatians 3:16-29

v.16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

v.17 And this I say, [that] the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.

v.18 For if the inheritance [be] of the law, [it is] no more of promise: but God gave [it] to Abraham by promise.

v.19 Wherefore then [serveth] the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; [and it was] ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

v.20 Now a mediator is not [a mediator] of one, but God is one.

v.21 [Is] the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.

v.22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

v.23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.

v.24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster [to bring us] unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

v.25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

v.26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

V.27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

v.28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

v.29 And if ye [be] Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

New Living translation

v.16 God gave the promises to Abraham and his child. And notice that the Scripture doesn’t say “to his children,” as if it meant many descendants. Rather, it says “to his child”—and that, of course, means Christ.

v.17 This is what I am trying to say: The agreement God made with Abraham could not be canceled 430 years later when God gave the law to Moses. God would be breaking his promise.

v.18 For if the inheritance could be received by keeping the law, then it would not be the result of accepting God’s promise. But God graciously gave it to Abraham as a promise.

v.19 Why, then, was the law given? It was given alongside the promise to show people their sins. But the law was designed to last only until the coming of the child who was promised. God gave his law through angels to Moses, who was the mediator between God and the people.

v.20 Now a mediator is helpful if more than one party must reach an agreement. But God, who is one, did not use a mediator when he gave his promise to Abraham.

v.21 Is there a conflict, then, between God’s law and God’s promises? Absolutely not! If the law could give us new life, we could be made right with God by obeying it.

v.22 But the Scriptures declare that we are all prisoners of sin, so we receive God’s promise of freedom only by believing in Jesus Christ.

v.23 Before the way of faith in Christ was available to us, we were placed under guard by the law. We were kept in protective custody, so to speak, until the way of faith was revealed.

v.24 Let me put it another way. The law was our guardian until Christ came; it protected us until we could be made right with God through faith.

V.25 And now that the way of faith has come, we no longer need the law as our guardian.

v.26 For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

v.27 And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes.

v.28 There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.

v.29 And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and God’s promise to Abraham belongs to you.

It’s all about the promise that our God will never break. A message that He made sure will reach us. The assurance of our salvation through God Himself and restoring the broken relationship. We cannot pick up the broken pieces and put them all together. We can’t fix our relationship with God. It is the same when one day our microwave oven stops working. We try to fix it by ourselves, and most of the time we failed. Sometimes we can fix it, but we cannot have the guarantee that it would perform better than it was before. The best thing to do is to return it to the manufacturer and let them fix it. We are the creation and He is the Creator, and only God can fix, put things together, and have it in perfect order again. This is the truth!

King James Version

John 1:1-4

v.1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

v.2 The same was in the beginning with God.

v.3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

v.4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

New Living translation

v.1 In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God and the Word was God.

v.2 He existed in the beginning with God.

v.3 God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him.

v.4 The Word gave life to everything that was created and his life brought light to everyone.

The message, who is the Word, the Lord Jesus Christ, has been always with us. The message, who is Jesus Himself was there from the beginning. Every time that these appointed people or the prophets receive messages or words from God, it is all about the restoration that will connect us to God once again. And it is all about the Lord Jesus Christ. We are living in darkness. The Lord Jesus gave us a new life and brought light.

King James Version

John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

New Living translation

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

And now we know that those words from our God came to us, and this time, not words of instructions appointed to a man, but just one Word, and that Word became flesh. From the throne of grace, God became man, and through His death and resurrection, He reconciled His relationship with us once again. Christmas is a promise from our God in heaven, restoring our broken relationship with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

The greatest gift that we can give cannot be bought. It is free. It is God’s grace. God gave His son freely to us, and salvation cannot be bought either earned. It is only through our Lord Jesus Christ that we can truly have peace in this troubled world. The peace that resides in our whole spirit, soul, and body can be shared by declaring the Gospel, the Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ. AMEN!
