The man who does things, makes many mistakes, but he never makes the biggest mistake of all — doing nothing.
As Christians we are so often full of criticism and comment. This brother should not have gone out to evangelise, for he has no training at all, and that sister thinks that she can lead her neighbours to the Lord. Who do they think they are? Don’t they realise how stupid they are and how many mistakes they make?
It is so easy to see all the mistakes others are making (in our eyes anyhow). It may actually be true that they make mistakes, even big mistakes, but on the other side we have to realise that they are trying to use the talents they have been given. They may not have that much knowledge or wisdom and they may look in our eyes as if they are just bumbling along, but what does the Bible say about this?
Remember the parable Jesus told about the talents. An employer had to go away for some time and gave one servant five talents, another two and a third one, only one talent. (Matthew 25: 15-18)
When the employer came back, the one with the five talents had doubled them and so had the one with the two, but the one with only one talent had buried it and done nothing with it.
The first two got praised and told that they were faithful servants, but the third was told that he was wicked and lazy.
When we see other Christians use their talents to the best of their knowledge, they may make mistakes, but in the eyes of the Lord they will be considered faithful servants. The biggest mistake they can make, is to ignore the talents they have been given and do nothing with them.
So, risk making mistakes! Serve the Lord to the best of your ability, with the talents you have been given!
