Is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles too?
Yes, of Gentiles too, since there is only one God,
who will justify the circumcised by faith and
the uncircumcised through that same faith. Romans 3.29-30,NIV
Not just the God of the Jews, but the Gentiles too….indeed, when we seek him, he is God of all of us! So, if God is the God of all of us who place our trust in him, then I have a serious question— Is God really God of ALL of us?
Let me clarify— Is God really God of ALL of WHO we are?
Sure, we let him be God over some of our decisions, part of our finances, our family relationships—at least, some of them . . . but do we give him his rightful place which is “God over everything”? While the world is doing away with ‘absolutes’ where it can, God is not. See, God deals in absolutes, and Scripture is full of them. Consider with me:
Love the Lord thy God with ALL your heart, ALL your soul, ALL your mind, ALL your strength… 1
Do not worry about ANYTHING; instead, pray about EVERYTHING.2
[Do we even realize that we are holding back from God? I’m not sure. How many of us devote ourselves to prayer long enough to pray about everything? Is it a question of living focused on the big things, and letting all the ‘little things’ fit in where they may? But then, that means we are making the judgment call about what is ‘big’
and what is ‘little’ in our lives; perhaps our perception of those is
skewed. Like, what if God wanted to take one of our
‘little’ things to totally change our lives, or someone else’s? Maybe
that’s why he said to pray about everything. Hmmm…]
He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.3 Now what if God changed, and you could not depend on his character? What if his behavior was not consistent with a righteous, holy God? No, we depend on him to be absolutely true to himself and to us. We are able to trust him because he is.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.4 Oh man, what if God only forgave some of our sins! What if he only had the ability or desire to cleanse us from some of our unrighteousness? We would always wonder what had been forgiven, what hadn’t. We would be left guessing.
No, God does not deal in the ‘grey’. He is the God of black and white. And truthfully, that’s what he wants from you and me. Remember, clear back in the beginning--he wanted total obedience from Adam and Eve—nothing short of obedience would suffice. In Exodus 3, God told Moses, “I AM who I AM…this is my name forever, and this is my memorial to all generations.”
Is he God then of ALL of us? Is he God of all of who you are? Do you invite him into every area of your life, letting him be Lord over all of who you are? Or are you choosing to operate in the ‘gray’? Are you given to compromise? ‘Found this song: Grey's my favorite color...
Black and white has never been my thing- I'll take my drink lukewarm now- Hot and cold is not the thing for me
Absolutes are hidden, I've buried my convictions; I cannot be blind no more, Numb to what I'm living for.
Help me stop this compromise that justifies these lies.. I need Your passion in this life. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfHwZzMH_ug
Let’s let him be God of all of us … all of who we are.
