2 Cor 12:9 But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. NIV
But he told me: "My kindness is all you need. My power is strongest when you are weak." So I will brag even more about my weaknesses in order that Christ's power will live in me. GWT
Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Bible Commentary explains in this way: The Lord has more need of our weakness than of our strength: our strength is often His rival; our weakness, His servant, drawing on His resources, and showing forth His glory. Man's extremity is God's opportunity; man's security is Satan's opportunity. God's way is not to take His children out of trial, but to give them strength to bear up against it
As we see in the rich man who, can not see any need to have faith in God. His trust is the money he has, no matter how he obtained his gold, he now has it so why have faith in God.
Many of us at one time or another have had the thought, “if only I had this or that, all my problems would be gone.” Then when we have those things life still empty. They are no happier then before even worse, “if that did not solve my problems nothing can.” As it says
1 Tim 6:10 Certainly, the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. Some people who have set their hearts on getting rich have wandered away from the Christian faith and have caused themselves a lot of grief. GWT
Whenever we put anything before God, trouble will be attached to that. As we read the entire chapter of 1Tim 6 we see that it is contentment that we can gain.
Nehemiah 8:10 ... Don't be sad because the joy you have in the LORD is your strength."
So we are strong in our weakness as we put our faith in God. We are joyful or content in the Lord and that is our strength. We know that we have a Father; a Dad that Loves us so very much, we put our trust in Him and our needs are meet. We humble ourselves before Him and give thanks and praise to His most Holy Name. And by His grace we are able to stand in the midst of whatever is going on around us. The more we are able to do all these things the stronger in Him we become. The stronger we become the more we are able to be used by Him, for we do not seek our own glory but, to give Glory to Jesus. As we yield to Holy Spirit Wisdom becomes apart of who we are. And while all this is going on we look to that day when we hear, “Well done, My good and faithful servant, come now and enjoy all that has been prepared for you.”
