A Little History - STUCK IN BABYLON

I am studying Daniel right now using the Beth Moore Study series. I am so grateful for that amazing lady. God has so blessed her and me through her. I wish I could touch lives in a powerful way for the glory of God, but I realize how lucky I really am that fame has not been something God chose for me. I believe I would have been terrible at adjusting to it. Not only would I find humility terribly difficult, I KNOW I would have been at terrible risk for doing considerable harm. There are certain people I believe Satan gives power to just because of the harm they will do through their stupidity, greed, power, ignorance and lack of faith. How frightening some gifts are in the wrong hands and I am realizing how very careful I must be with every blessing because Satan can come along and quickly change it into something terrible. I so appreciate God's revelations to me. They happen without warning and they are just so precious to me. I often wonder what God intends but then I realize that He will show me when it is time. Back to Daniel.....I am learning some things I never realized. Most of us, Christian and non-Christian, know the story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednigo. The famous story of the fire that did not harm one hair on their heads. What I did not know was that there is tremendous history of these men prior to this event. I remember that as a child the story made them seem like children, but actually they were powerful men of Babylon, brought into the country as slaves and through EVERYTHING they maintained their faith in God through prayer, fasting and FAITH. They did not just get thrown into a fire and God saved them. He saved them because of their steadfast faith. They honored the commandment "Thou shalt have no other god's before me". Nebuchadnezzar was a modern day movie star. I like how Ms. Moore asks us to look at this history as REAL. Its not just a great story, these were real people with feelings and we need to acknowledge that we are real people with feelings and God can and WILL work in our lives just as he did in the past. Just because it happened long ago it doesn't mean it isn't happening now. You do not have to be famous to be with God!!!! These men were from the beginning of capitivity willing to give their lives for God. First they refused the king's food, then his command to worship him and yet, because of their faith GOD stepped in and DELIVERED them. We all are living in a world just the same as Babylon. We don't have one king we have many...we aren't asked to worship a statute but we are asked to bow down to earthly principles and that is where we are in DANGER!!!! God wants us to prosper and have everything our heart desires but it is WHAT we desire that is of the world!!! The desire of things is what Satan has placed in stead of the desire of God. I have personally thought that heaven is going to be soooo boring compared to earth. I know that that may seem terrible to some of you but I am being honest. The very idea of death is frightening and scary to me. I am praying for the day when I can be rejoicing at the the idea of seeing my maker. I guess the whole point to this is that Satan wants us stuck here. He wants us to feel like earth is better than heaven but IT ISN'T. I am so familiar with earth that I am struggling to fathom what better is and that, my friends is a sad state of affairs!!! My prayer is that God reveals his wonders to me so that I want HEAVEN not EARTH!!! Babylon was destroyed. Yet, Satan is capable of building Babylon wherever he chooses and folks he has got the US in a very Babylonian state. I am one that is choosing to seek heaven an its glory and remember that God will bless me for my faithfulness as he did Shadrach, Meshach and Abednigo. (Remember the 4th in the fire....I believe it was God himself) Dear Lord PLEASE be with me during the firey trials of this life AMEN!!!!!!
