Fear

Have you ever thought about why there is so much fear in life?
If you have, you’re not alone. This is a very relevant question in every society, because every one of us has felt fear at some point in our lives. The question is, why? I believe that it starts when we are little kids. I had the opportunity to see one of my nephews grow up. I remember paying close attention to what he feared the most. Surprisingly, the kid was not afraid of anything, until the parents and siblings started to instill fear in him. Let me give you an example: little kids are not afraid of the dark. They’ll go into a pitch black room; they might not be able to see anything but they are not afraid either. So, when do they develop fear? It happens when you tell them that there is a monster in the room. All you want to do is keep him/her away from a certain room or place. We do this not knowing that we are instilling fear in them, and with fear comes insecurity, with insecurity come mental obstacles. The problem with fear is that it spreads, and it has many consequences later in life. Are you beginning to understand where fear comes from?
There are many people afraid of public speaking; if you trace it back some times it has to do with their childhood memories. It would not surprise you that some people were spanked by their parents if they didn’t keep quiet. It’s that simple!

If there’s a certain fear or fears that you would like to conquer, I suggest you make a list and ask yourself these questions: what, really, what am I afraid of? How is this fear affecting my life? What are the benefits of me conquering this fear?
If you really think about it, fear is just an overblown emotion. Just like anger, happiness, sadness, etc; you can control it and master it. Try it and enjoy the results in every aspect of your life.


There is no FEAR in love. Perfect love puts FEAR out of our hearts. People have FEAR when they are afraid of being punished. The man who is afraid does not have perfect love.
