Running the Race
Let us set aside every weight and the sin which so easily ensnares us and let us run with endurance the race that is before us.
Hebrews 12:1
Aerodynamics is very important in racing I am told. Not being a science major, I take their word for it! Runners wear clothing that will help them win the race and not cause resistance from the wind. They do not want anything in any form of racing that would weight them down and cause their time to be diminished. Ever notice how small the horse racing jockeys are? What is true in auto, horse or marathon racing…is also true in life! We do not need to have anything “weighing us down” as we run with endurance the race that is before us. And what “race” is that? The “race” called daily living!
Every burden that we carry is a weight. Every grudge that we hold against someone is an additional weight. One grudge here, one burden there and soon we are heavy laden with weight that we should not be carrying….and which slows us down on our “race” called living! We soon can become depressed and everything we attempt to do become huge cumbersome tasks…even the simplest of things. When we turn these burdens over to the Lord and remove grudges, our “aerodynamics” will allow us to run the race of life much fast and smoother!
We are very careful when we walk not to fall into any traps of any kind…ouch!! That would hurt!! We do not like that confinement and yes that does delay our walking. We also need to confess and be free of our sin so that it does not ensnare us and hinder our walk with the Lord! Mired in sin can keep us from enjoying the freedom of confessed and forgiven sin. When we confess our sins to God, He forgives us and removes them from us allowing us freedom once again and the ability to run with endurance the race that is before us.
Running the race of life…can be tiresome or it can go smoothly....it all depends on our “aerodynamics” and our ability to free ourselves from being ensnared by sin. The choice is ours!
PRAYER: Lord help me to cast all burdens that weigh me down upon You and to remove all grudges and the snares of sin. Amen
