Yesterday my Minister spoke to me about the sermon I missed in Church. I was so intrigued about what she was saying, she was kind enough to share her words with me via e-mail. As I read what she had written a message about Jesus' character was shining through. Jesus was truly representing the character of God and we should be truly representing the character of Jesus, but do we. Do we really take our commitment as Christians as serious as we think. My minister finished her sermon with the poem below. Reading the poem, all I could see was myself looking in a mirror, the reflection of the person staring back wasn't like Jesus at all.....When you read this, be honest with yourself, im sure there are areas in all our lives that need attention....remember when you go out there, just who you represent......
Do you know, do you understand,
That you represent Jesus to me!
Do you know, do you understand,
That when you treat me with gentleness
It raises the question in my mind
That maybe he is gentle too.
Maybe he isn’t some one who laughs at my hurt.
Do you know, do you understand,
That when you listen to my questions
And you don’t laugh,
I think, what if Jesus is interested in me too!
Do you know, do you understand,
that when I hear you talk about arguments,
about scars from your past,
I think, maybe I am just a regular person
Instead of a bad no good little girl
Who deserves abuse!
I f you care, I think maybe he cares
And then there’s this flame of hope
That burns inside of me, and for a while,
I’m afraid to breathe,
Because it might go out!
Do you know, do you understand,
That your words are His words,
Your face, His face,
To some one like me?
Please be who you say you are
Please God don’t let this be another trick
Please, please, let this be real.
Do you know, do you understand you represent Jesus to me!
