Me to You
Okay I have to admit something to you all. I am a devotion nut! I love them. You really see the people; see how they think and who they are. So today, as I was browsing around the internet looking at different devotions, I found a link at the bottom of one and it said, “A letter from God.” I click on it and I took me this page that had a wonderful letter from God to us, in our hard times of life. If only God could really send a letter to us in the mail, or even better would be an e-mail, maybe a text! We do have ways of knowing what God wants even if it’s not on paper!
A letter from God, titled: Do You Trust Me.? “Do you trust me when things aren’t going right, when life deals some powerful blows, when finances are awfully tight? Do you trust me when tragedy comes your way, when you don’t get all the answers, when you bend your knee to pray? Do you trust me when friends don’t understand, when there’s no one you can talk to, no one to hold your hand? Do you trust me when there’s warring in your soul, when there’s darkness all around you and you’re left out in the cold? Do you trust me when evil is against you, when there’s nowhere left to run and you can’t find the truth? Do you trust me? I need to ask you this, because you don’t always know I’m here in the mist. Of all your tribulations, everything that you go through, I am always there, my child, and I will never leave you. So I must ask of you to see if you believe no matter what you face in life, you must always trust in me.”
Now after reading this letter from God, I went over to my handy dandy dictionary and looked up the Webster’s idea of faith. It says, “allegiance to duty or a person: loyalty: fidelity to one’s promises: sincerity of intentions. (2) Belief and trust in the loyalty to God: belief in the traditional doctrines of a religion.” And my personal favorite, “firm belief in something for which there is no proof: complete trust.” Now from this I understood that faith and trust go hand in hand, right? I feel so.
I feel that in my dealings of life, I have had to have “big” faith. From my real father leaving me when I was young to my now father, Richard, having a heart attack weeks after my mom was married to him, all the way to my mother have years to live and MS to my father on the heart transplant list, and even myself struggling with health and growing up. I have, as some would say, “been through the ringer.” I don’t feel so. I know that I have been through as most would say “the ringer” but instead, I feel that they where tests of faith. Will I really stand to God or try to deal on my own? Thru our church I did an S.H.A.P.E campaign. It was a bible study based on finding our shapes and where we fit into the puzzle of ministry. In this, we took a test and I came to find out that in this test my faith section sky rocketed off of the paper and on to the table! What? I have that much faith in God? There’s no way. I don’t feel like I do! But after looking back on this all, I came to the conclusion that I do have that much faith. I have always leaned on God when tuff times rolled around. No, I didn’t always understand why or what, but I just trusted that God was going to handle it and deal with it all. And to be totally honest with you sometimes leaning and trusting in God was all I could do, because I didn’t understand. I had no choice in the matter, do you have faith or do you feel sorry of your self? I love the fact that we have a God that is so willing to go the extra miles, even when we give up. I love it that He will carry us thru the times in our life that we feel stuck in the mud. He picks us up and washes us off and gives us a light to see what’s ahead, and then He’s there cheering us on and guiding us thru this crazy stuff. Sometimes even though we can’t see Him or hear Him, we need to remember the letter that He wrote asking us if we do trust in Him. We can try to handle it on our own, but why when we have someone that wants our problems. Leave it at the feet of Jesus; He’s the only one that can actually get you past it all.
Today’s Prayer
Jesus, thank you that you are big enough. Please help us this week to walk in faith, side by side with you. To no that you are the one in control not us. I love you so very much and thank you that you are the one handling all of the issues of life. Thank you that I don’t and you do—even when we are stuck in the mud. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
Questions for Thought
Have you ever had to lay your problems at the feet of Jesus?
Do you remember a time were you new you could handle the problem and couldn’t?
Do you walk in faith or in sight?
Are you in mud now or in faith?
Do you need Jesus to clean you up and give you a light?
