We are saved by Grace
Romans 4 gives an excellent account of how we are saved. Not by works but by faith and it traces that relationship to Justification back to Abraham.
"Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, And whose sins are covered;
I have found this passage to have special meaning. We are so loved that we are forgiven in advance for our sins. That in fact is the the story of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as he took the sins of the world so that we might be saved.
It is all summed up in Romans 10:9
- For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
There are two simple statements here:
1. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and Son of God
2. Believe in your heart that God the Father raised him from the dead.
This is the most important step that a person takes in accepting the free gift of salvation from God.
