As I was reading Matthew 7 this morning, I thought about how if I put all of Jesus's words into practice, I will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.  I should not judge people (like Christians who are alcoholics) or I too will be judged for something.  I should not give my thoughts about the Bible or other Christian things to unbelievers.  If I do, they may criticize the Word of God, and then turn and try to convince me that the Word isn't true.  I should treat others the way I… Continue

As I was reading Matthew 6 this morning, I thought that I should pray Jesus's model prayer - the Lord's Prayer - everyday because it says "Give us today our daily bread."  (NIV). 

 

As I was reading Genesis 15, it said "Abram believed the LORD, and it was credited to him as righteousness."  (NIV).  I should believe all of God's promises.  As I was reading Matthew 6, it says that when we give to the needy, we should do it in secret.  We shouldn't let everyone know about it.  It…

As I was reading Matthew 5 this morning, I thought about how I am the light of the world because I am a Christian.  This statement does wonders for my feelings of self-worth.

 

Also, I was reading that I am the salt of the earth since I am a Christian.  Things that I say may rub people the wrong way, but I am supposed to stand up for what is right.  I also am to not be angry with my brother, but am to love my brother.  I also am to love my enemies - those people who do mean…

As I was reading Matthew 4 this morning, I thought about how I should only worship the Lord my God.  I should not worship myself or money or anything else.

 

Also, when I was reading in Genesis, I thought that whenever I see the rainbow in the clouds, I will know that God is remembering the everlasting covenant between Him and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.  He said that He will not flood the earth ever again.

As I was reading Genesis 6 this morning, I was thinking about how I should be a righteous person like Noah and walk with God like Noah.  I can walk with God by praying to Him all the time as I go through my day, by reading my Bible daily, by listening to praise and worship songs, and by going to church and fellowshipping with other believers.

 

I also read that God was grieved and His heart was filled with pain.  God has emotions and a heart like people do.

This morning, I was reading in Genesis 3 about how Eve told God that the serpent deceived her.  The serpent (the devil) still tries to deceive people today - even Christians.  We have to be on our guard against the devil.  We have to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus.

As I was reading Genesis 1 this morning, I thought about how I am created in God's own image.  I have the capacity, with the help of the Holy Spirit, to be godly.  I will never be perfect like God, but I can determine to make my heart and mind as close to God's as I possibly can.  "A man after God's own heart".
