It’s an old tradition that is quoted by many when a Bride is about to be married: “Something Old, Something New; Something Borrowed, Something Blue, And a silver sixpence in her shoe.” The idea is that this combination as part of the Bride’s attire will assure happiness, success, and good luck in her marriage.
The History of this tradition states: “Each item in this poem represents a good-luck token for the bride. If she carries all of them on… Continue

As I was reading my bible I came across Philippians 4:6-7 is reads as follows :
6) Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with
thanksgiving, let your request's be made known to God.
7) and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will gaurd
your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
I was angry at something my husband didn't do today. And I just was going crazy over
it. Usually, I tend to let my attitude show, but instead…

People love to coin phrases that don’t always hold up under scrutiny. It is common-place to hear the expression: “Perception Is Reality”! Wikipedia indicates: “In psychology and the cognitive sciences, perception is the process of attaining awareness or understanding of sensory information.” Objects and Ideas can mean different things to different people. A test that is often employed is the use of objects or ink blots (The Rorschach Test). The person… Continue

Ive been saved for six years but only got serious with God in march this year. I spent the rest of the time trying to find out how i could be a "normal" drinker, but of course this didnt happen because i was an alcoholic and God doesnt want it in my life, so after almost going insane, and feeling suicidal, i finally surrendered to Him and accepted i will never be able to drink again. its now nearly six months since i last touched the stuff and God is moving mightily in my life, i wish id have…

I want to share with u a very nice story...
A married lady was expecting a birthday gift from her husband.
For many months she had admired a beautiful diamond ring in a showroom,
and knowing her husband could afford it, she told him that was all she
wanted.
As her birthday approached, this lady awaited signs that her husband
had purchased the diamond ring.
Finally, on the morning of her birthday, her husband called her into his study.
Her… Continue

It becomes a wearying process to listen to “News Programs” and to have Prognosticators and Pundits express what the Newsmaker meant to say and means to say. It becomes somewhat disingenuous, especially when there are those in Punditry who are (a) predictable in terms of what they will utter again and again, and (b) who keep speaking until they can think of something to say. Whatever happened to the Biblical instruction in Ecclesiastes 5:2-3, “Do not be… Continue

Psalm 115:117-118
The dead do not praise the LORD, nor do any who go down into silence; but as for us, we will bless the LORD from this time forth and forever. Praise the Lord!
The Bible exhorts every area of creation and every kind of creature to praise the Lord. The Bible exhorts the heavens, the earth, the sea, the forests, the rocks—there is nothing that should not praise the Lord.
It speaks about all kinds of creatures: flying creatures, creatures in the sea, crawling…

Probably a common one, but I'm in a place where life is a tornado of busyness at home and at work. There seems to be no time for God at all and I know that this is when I need to be clinging to him most. I'd appreciate prayer that God would just create in me a strong desire to know him more to be wrapped in his arms of peace amidst the chaos of life. That he'd enable me to make time for him.

It is all too easy to become confused by the Mass Media these days. We have several types of people who give their various viewpoints – Analysts; Commentators; Strategists; Prognosticators; and Pundits. We also have several organizations who are conducting Daily Tracking Polls to indicate what they believe is the most up-to-the-minute opinion of the nation as a whole. With the 24/7 Cable and Satellite coverage, we have many others who are merely… Continue

Proverbs 9:13-18
The woman Folly is loud; she is undisciplined and without knowledge. She sits at the door of her house, on a seat at the highest point of the city, calling out to those who pass by, who go straight on their way. “Let all who are simple come in here!” she says to those who lack judgment. “Stolen water is sweet; food eaten in secret is delicious!” But little do they know that the dead are there, that her guests are in the depths of the grave [or of Sheol,… Continue

I wish I could juggle everything better. I wish I had a better memory/attention span. The school-age daycare program sent me a letter saying I was cut off because of late payment. I am having trouble working full-time, raising a happy, healthy daughter (my son lives with my mom) and paying bills with money orders or a load yourself credit card, cleaning and cooking and being tired! My daughter wants me to work part-time again and I am tempted. She'll be entering 4th grade and we don't really…

Killer cyclones. Plane crash. Road accident. Murder. Hijacking. Embezzlement. Divorce. Result: loss of a loved one, permanent physical disability, paralysis, financial ruin, trauma, neurosis, death. "Why? Why me?" sob the victims or the bereaved. "What have I done to deserve this?" During the second world war, a German soldier wrenched away a baby suckling at its mother's breast and before her very eyes threw it into the air, laughed and shot its brains out with his revolver. The screaming…

I was just reading a Review about the book: “Knocking Over the Leadership Ladder” by Paul R. Ford. The Reviewer observed from Chapter 2: "It is difficult to find the communion of the Holy Spirit when the spotlight is on the self…Narcissism, exaggerated self-concern says, 'It's all about “Me”… Entitlement says "I deserve it." We feel “We” deserve what we have, what we want and what we need. “We” look and act much like our unhappy culture… God's design…is for…
