In many areas and decisions one makes in life, there is an element of risk. It is a scary speculation to think (if the estimate is correct) that 1 in 5 drivers one passes in oncoming traffic is under the influence of “something”. The “risk” pertains to one’s consumption of some mood modifier; or they could be distracted by conversation with someone in the vehicle or on a Cell Phone; or there could be the all-too-frequent “Road Rage” factor present.… Continue

Serving Out of a Sense of Duty
Here’s a story that very relevant to our topic today…
Early one morning, a mother went in to wake up her son. “Wake up, son. It’s time to go to school!”
“But why, Mom? I don’t want to go.”
“Give me two reasons why you don’t want to go.”
“Well, the kids hate me for one, and the teachers hate me, too!”
“Oh, that’s no reason not to go to school. Come on now and get ready.”
“Give… Continue

Why So Downcast?
My eyes have never beheld what I believe I will one day possess.
My hands have never touched hands damaged in crucifixion, yet I believe I will one day touch them.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever…

In December 1963, LET’S MAKE A DEAL became a daytime entry in television as a contestant-driven program. A summary states: “One of TV's all time greatest and most successful shows, Let's Make a Deal was a game of intuition, skill, luck, decision-making and greed...all mixed into one…” People would carry signs, or dress in all kinds of costumes hoping to attract the attention of the Host, Monty Hall. Currently, there is another program that is rated very… Continue

Should a Christian Celebrate Christmas?
There is no Biblical warrant, precedent, nor precept for remembrance of the day of Christ's birth as a day of special religious celebration. This is not to say that we shouldn't remember Christ's birth and its significance, but for religious commemorations or celebrations, we must have Biblical command or precedent! The fact of the matter is this -- the early church did not celebrate Christ's birth, but such celebration only came into the church with…

Christmas…A Holiday, A Season, or a Lifestyle?
The angel said to them [the shepherds] “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people”. Luke 2:10
“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas”…the words to a song I heard on the radio a short time ago. As I was out walking Angel Joy this afternoon, sure enough the song was right. Around the neighborhood many houses were quite festive with their lights, decorations and greenery. It was indeed…

At times, we have all had to struggle with an inner urge to “gloat” over someone or some matter. When a person has been arrogant towards another and then miscues, it would be so easy to gloat because that one has performed in an otiose (ineffective or futile; superfluous or useless) manner. Gloating is: “a feeling of great, often malicious, pleasure or self-satisfaction.” We attribute such moments to our “human nature” which, if left unchecked, can be… Continue

I cannot help but note and appreciate the warmth and openness that God provides through His son Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit and which is manifested in the people who have accepted Him. I always feel uninhibited and joyous when am associating with other Christians because we have nothing to hide and of course the sweetness of the Word of God. So am feeling now when I feel accepted and energized by the messages in this online community.
That amazing love creates in me great confidence…

I was raised in the Pentecostal Religion. When I was in the 3rd. grade, that was around 7 or 8 years old I came home with a D on my report card in English. My parents were very abusive. I was scared to death. But I got the Bible I got on the floor, I was fasting I already knew that much. Any way For the next 6 weeks I fast and prayed alot. When the 6 weeks were up I had a 98 average in English. I did not have to take the test for the end of the quarter. I was BLOWN AWAY. The other kids got so…

I have suddenly realised that I've put off my relationship with God long enough now.
How much longer can I repeat the same sins, over and over again?
I was getting to a point where I felt guilty everytime I asked for forgiveness, because I knew it wouldn't be long before I was asking for it again.
But today - I've changed. I've decided that the time is NOW to start fresh, to begin my walk with God. There have been a few changes in my life recently, and I now…

"And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice--the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him.
"Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
"Because of the privilege and… Continue

There are same words that signify loss, failure, irresponsibility, or unanticipated events occurring that make it difficult for one to survive financially. Bankruptcy used to carry with it a sense of shame and/or failure. When the word is used as an adjective, American Heritage Dictionary defines Bankruptcy as, “having been legally declared financially insolvent; financially ruined; impoverished; depleted of valuable qualities or characteristics; totally… Continue

Faithful Failures
Many popular preachers are teaching that if you have faith, nothing bad can befall you. You can be healed of all your diseases; delivered from all your financial woes and be blessed with every good thing.
But is that what the Bible teaches? Let's look at some "men of faith" to find out.
In 2Corinthians 12:7-10"So to keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger…
