When God made you, he knew he would never stop loving you

"How precious are your thoughts
concerning me, O God!
How vast in number they are!
If I try to count them,
there would be more of them
than there are grains of sand.
When I wake up, I am still with you."

~Psalm 139: 13-18

THE SEED OF GODS WORD

When a large crowd had gathered and people had come to Jesus from every city, he used this story as an illustration:

"A farmer went to plant his seeds. Some seeds were planted along the road, were trampled, and were devoured by birds. Others were planted on rocky soil. When the plants came up, they withered because they had no moisture. Others were planted among thornbushes. The thornbushes grew up with them and choked them. Others were planted on good ground. When they came… Continue

THE POWER OF GOD OVER LIFE

Do you recognize when people or things shift in your life? Do you embrace it or do you do your best to keep things the way they were?

Think about when you’re driving your car, you have to shift those gears to either go forward or backwards. If those gears don’t shift you don’t move, you stall out, you can’t reach your desired destination. When you refuse to shift you refuse to grow.

This is what happens when God causes a shift in our lives. We start to feel…

PRAY

From one end of the Bible to the other there's a record of those whose prayers have been answered... people who fervently prayed and God answered!
Pray for people who are lost -- people who do not know Jesus as their Savior (Romans 10:1, 1 Timothy 2:1-4)!

Tongues. . . For you?

Good Morning.

"What is the deal with tongues?" is a question I have been asked a number of times; perhaps as a way of describing the spiritual gift of speaking in tongues, I will tell you about my exposure and experience with this gift. When I was 11 years old, my friend invited me to go to church with her at the First Assembly of God. I loved the upbeat feeling when we sang hymns; why, people even clapped their hands! Believe me, it was quite a departure from the Baptist church to… Continue

It's all about the free gift

Good Morning.

We leave our index finger on the page of Acts 2 to consider an important footnote. In yesterday's Morning Briefing, the Holy Spirit descended to rest upon and take residence within the Jewish Christians gathered together in Jerusalem. In obedience to Jesus, they had stayed together, waiting and praying for this gift that Jesus had promised--the Holy Spirit, third person of the Trinity. Do not be confused, the Holy Spirit has always been, but He had not inhabited… Continue

Palestinian Christians refusing the cycle of hate

An interesting story about Palestinian Christians. We should remember the many Christians caught up in the violent struggles between the state of Israel and Palestine.

Overcoming Bitterness and Resentment

Overcoming Bitterness and Resentment

"Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many" (Hebrews 12:14,15).

When we are offended or disappointed by others, we have to deal with it quickly, or we can get hurt by it, then if that hurt… Continue

Of wind, tongues and fire

Good Morning. Wow! This is a powerful passage. . . "Lord, open our hearts and minds to understand Your Word this day. Amen"

Acts 2.1-13 - When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in… Continue

Poem written by Judge Roy Moore

Alabama

Judge

Some of you may be wondering what Judge Roy Moore has been doing since he was removed from the bench for refusing to remove the Ten Commandments from his courtroom wall. Please read the poem he wrote. It's below his picture.

The following is a poem written by Judge Roy Moore from Alabama . Judge Moore was sued by the ACLU for displaying the Ten Commandments in his courtroom foyer. He has been stripped of his judgeship and now they are trying… Continue

Torture of Christians in the Philippines

Since joining this site I have had a warm welcome from many kind people. Several of them are residents of the Philippines.

It came as a real shock to read the following news story:

Pastor testifies that he was tortured in the Philippines

I know very little of the Philippines but I can say, based on the communication I have had here, that its people are kind and good. In photographs it looks like a beautiful… Continue

Following Jonah into the depths

It seems to me that many people become lost in grief. Like Jonah they feel themselves swallowed up, dragged down into the depths. What can be said to such people? What can we say to ourselves when the world seems bleak?

I like a verse that someone recently reminded me of, "With God all things are possible." (Matthew 19:26)

This is the truth of it, no matter how grim things might appear God waits to make restitution, to make all things new.

As it says in… Continue

Operation➨➨➨Forgiveness

Good Morning. Forgiveness is God's invention for coming to terms with a world in which people are unfair to each other and hurt each other deeply. He began by forgiving us. And he invites us all to forgive each other. Lewis B. Smedes

While I am anxious to get to Acts chapter 2, it will have to wait another day; you'll see why. . .

It was early this morning when my telephone rang. Someone who had read "Thank you, Judas", yesterday's Morning Briefing, wanted to talk about it. You… Continue

How I Do Grieve.

How I Do Grieve.

For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.

God has no pleasure in the death of any man. For we are all made in His likeness and in His image. We morn, and grieve, over the death of a loved one, I myself have grieved many times. It is a hard thing to lose someone that you halved loved all your life.

We are heartbroken by a loss, but some take it harder than others. We must… Continue

Finishing Well

It does not matter how you start the race, or how well you run in it, all that matters is how you finish.

I have a friend in ICU. We have known each other for over 20 years. We met in the halls of AA each having six months of sobriety. Unfortunately, he was given prescription drugs to manage pain associated with Agent Orange. These drugs eventually took over his life. He was on his motorcycle Sunday. He did not notice the red light nor the van stopped at it at an intersection he has… Continue

Thank you, Judas

Acts 1:15-26 In those days Peter stood up among the believers (a group numbering about a hundred and twenty) and said, "Brothers, the Scripture had to be fulfilled which the Holy Spirit spoke long ago through the mouth of David concerning Judas, who served as guide for those who arrested Jesus— he was one of our number and shared in this ministry." With the reward he got for his wickedness, Judas bought a field; there he fell headlong, his body burst open and all his intestines spilled out.… Continue

10 Ways To Be A Good Husband --By Cory H.

The one year anniversary of A Good Husband came and went without much fanfare (first post here). This has been a modest project by any measurement, but I am glad that it has been met with well wishes by so many of you. For the next few days, until after the New Year, I want to share with you some of the best posts from the last year.

10 Ways to Be A Good Husband was the first post that hit it big on Stumbleupon, and still gets a lot of search traffic. It’s also the most popular post… Continue
