Just ONE more ABSOLUTE!!
We find it in Jesus’ final prayer, in the Garden of Gethsemane, just before He was taken away to be tried and crucified. Read the whole prayer in
John 17.
“I have revealed you to the ones you gave me from this world. They were always yours. You gave them to me, and they have kept your word.… Continue

I’ve been thinking how the truth affects different people. It’s just like a light shining into a dark place. People react to the truth in one of two ways. Some are drawn like moths, while others scatter like cockroaches.
And people are in the dark for one of two reasons… either ignorance or rebellion. Some don’t know because they haven’t heard. Others don’t know because they don’t WANT to hear.
And that is why…

HOW DO WE MEASURE UP?
As I was thinking about truth, it reminded of a rule or a tape measure … something that is reliable… that you can measure by.
And I thought about how we humans measure other people by all sorts of standards… and oh how wrong our judgment can be!! We use the wrong measure. We do not see what’s in the heart.
And then this morning, I thought of the song, “The measure of a…

Hey, I’ve had a change of mind. I’ve been doing some more reading about truth, and discovered something different.
Believing the truth, really isn’t the most important thing. I discovered that believing the truth is the result of something more important.
The MOST important thing is to LOVE THE TRUTH!! We firstly need to be SINCERE IN OUR HEART!! That is what God looks at. To start with, the belief system could…

(Another post from the past! In our Jesus Discovery Group, we are currently discussing "Grace and Truth" [John 1:14-18]. "[Jesus] came from the Father, full of grace and truth." The OT equivalent is "Mercy and Truth", so I thought I'd share these blog posts which I posted in August 07. I might learn something, too!! :-) )
The famous words of Pontius Pilate when Jesus was brought to him for questioning!
And today, we often ask the same. How can we know what is really…

Okay, I'm coming to the definitions.
But firstly, I did a study through the Old Testament and found this pair together a number of times. So before I share the definitions I'll give…

Do you have to do that too, so you can remember? I know for me, if I write something down, it is SO much easier to remember.
Well, before I go on to the study of our two words, mercy…

Just ONE question!
What would be the two things you would never leave home without? Wallet, mobile phone, keys, ID, credit card???...
For many, especially the young, one of…

...WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD!!!
Hey, lying in bed last Monday morning, that's what I heard... Louis Armstrong singing "What a Wonderful World".
And then I got thinking about how I was feeling..... SATISFIED!!.... I'd achieved this weekend what I'd set out to achieve. But in a way, I was starting to feel a bit lost, with nothing pressing to do. And then I got thinking again…

I've been thinking about the word "establish". So I checked out the meaning of the word and I discovered that there were 5 elements in something being established.
1) The Planning
2) The Preparation for the future event
3) The Presentation of the finished product
4) The Pleasure others enjoy
5) The Personal Satisfaction and SUCCESS!
As an…

As I've meditated on this prayer for the past day or so, my thoughts go particularly to God's creative people. I'm reminded that when He created the world, He made everything good and beautiful. There was nothing in the world that was not perfect. As Genesis says,
"God saw all He had made and it was very good." (Gen 1:31a,… Continue

"Let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands for us; Yes, establish the work of our hands." (Psalm 90:17, NKJ)
This is what I read this morning, and I felt I really needed it to make an impression on me, so I did this. It is also my prayer for you for the coming year. May you, firstly, know what the Lord would have you…

... That is what our pastor said on Sunday night!!
That's hit a cord with me, so I listened intently as he preached. He was really hitting the nail on the head. It seemed that everyone was saying the same thing that day.
On the one hand (I think I need octopus hands for this one!), I was having our discussion with a friend about knowing the Lord's leading. Then a bit later, I get challenged by my husband (just before I went to church), about the amount of time I spent on…

Firstly, praise the Lord, that His arm is not too short that he cannot save us out of our troubles!! And what He has done before, He can do again!! But now, I want to ask you to pray for God to heal our brother again!!
PaulDF went to hospital about 6 hours ago, late Sunday afternoon, Illinois time! He has asked for prayer. I sent this message to some friends here earlier…

"Much food is in the fallow ground of the poor, and for lack of justice there is waste." (Proverbs 13:23, NKJ)
One of the most criminal causes for poverty is exploitation! I received a letter from a friend who's been doing missionary work in Africa. He recently visited Tanzania. I was shocked when I learned this that he wrote:
"Tanzania, listed as one of the poorest countries in the world, may well be in dollars per capita, but in vegetation, produce, water, gold… Continue

I've been pondering about wealth and poverty. I seem to do that a lot.
Why are some people rich? Why are some people poor?
The Bible says that they have ONE thing in common...
So, if it is the Lord who has made some to be poor and some to be rich, why then should we try to change our financial state. Shouldn't we say that this is the Lord's will for me to be rich/poor? Why should we help those who are poorer…

The angels are having a party tonight!!
Our prodigal niece has come home!!!
She left a few months ago. She didn't want to have anything to do with us or God anymore. But guess what???
He had other ideas!! He is like a hound dog!! He hounded her. He wouldn't give her any peace. And, when she was stoned, she'd hear Him talking to her... "K, come back to Me!!" This happened every time she got stoned.
And He allowed the evil spirits to have a hay-day with…

The FIRST step is DISSECTING (as I showed in the previous post).
The SECOND step is UNDERSTANDING what is writen.
These are the things I look at and ask, in no particular order:
** THE CONTEXT - What comes before and what comes after?
** CROSS REFERENCES - What do other parts of the Bible say about this? The Bible is a progressive book of God's revelation, so the later revelations generally come later in the… Continue

I feel this may be of benefit to someone, to help you study and understand a passage of Scripture. I want to share here how I do it.
The FIRST thing I do after reading the passage is to dissect it into manageable parts, so I can find out what the passage is really saying. I was asked to look at Deut 6, so I'm using this as an example. (The text is NKJ):
Deut 6:1-9 - THE GREATEST…
