COGNITIVE DISSONANCE
Sometimes as I am simply ‘doing life,’ I am aware of a dissonance, though not fully cognizant of just what I am seeing, until I mentally unpack it at a later time. Permit me to do that just now. . .
The first visual struck me late on a Thursday night, as my husband and I quickly strode past Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church in Manhattan. Within just a few feet on our left was the beautiful, historic church . . . her steps filled with homeless people, trying…

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
At the age of 17, Joseph lost almost everything. His family, his position as the favored son, his home, and his freedom were abruptly taken from him. How stunned he must have been by…

Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy— Matthew 5: 7.
All do not know it, but it is a fact that the grandest quality that man can exercise, and the one which brings the largest amount of blessing itself, is the exercise of the Godlike quality of mercy, compassion, benevolence. Jesus lays great stress upon this quality of mercy, declaring that whatever else may be our attainments of knowledge or of grace, if we have not this one we can never be acceptable to Him — if we…

There is one Christmas Carol that has always baffled me. What in the world do leaping lords, French hens, swimming swans, and especially the partridge who won't come out of the pear tree have to do with Christmas?
This week, I found out.
From 1558 until 1829, Roman Catholics in England were not permitted to practice their faith openly. Someone during that era wrote this carol as a catechism song for young Catholics. It has two levels of meaning: the surface meaning plus a hidden…

Love I've learned comes with a price,
a life of nothing less than sacrifice.
So much I thought I'd have by now,
I've given to those in need somehow.
For to hold on to something someone needs,
this selflessness inside exceeds.
To God, my children, family, and friends, do I give, …

I hope that you will look with me at a short study of the word obedience, maybe a little closer than ever, depending on how much some have studied. Those of you that know me, know that I believe the bible teaches us that love is the most important thing to God. Some would argue that obedience is more important because,... "if you love God, you will obey Him",... and on the latter,... I do agree. I have used Gods' teachings concerning love to argue the case for it's… Continue

Saying the Wrong Things
www.kcm.org/real-help/article/saying-wrong-things
by Kenneth Copeland
One of the most natural things we do in life is talk. In fact, long before most of us knew what we were doing, we were learning to talk. We started forming our first words while we were still babies.
But there’s also something very supernatural about our ability to talk.
You and I are the only…

I believe in Santa
A Saint in my native tongue eminent for piety
Bearing gifts that uplift
That gives life
Streets dressed with His light
Disguised in suits of red and white
And candy cane, His stripes
Armies for Salvation
Ringing Emanuel’s bells “God is with us”
There is a Santa Claus which states;
That by decking the halls of your heart with His spirit
Releases His Yule tide graces
Warming your winter like Yule logged…

How you can be saved and have eternal life!
Just pray this simple prayer and mean it and you will be save.
"God, I come to you in the name of Jesus, I do not know you personally, but I want to know you. I believe that Your Word, the Bible is true. I repent for hardening my heart toward you, and for indulging in things you hate. I don't want to go to hell; I really want to be free of my sin. Dear God, I ask Jesus to come into my heart and cleanse me of the guilt…

READY . . . Action! 2 Thessalonians 2.13-3.5
Good Day, Friends.
Everywhere we look in this passage, the verbs steal the action. God made the first move by loving us and choosing us to be his children . . . okay, how great is that? We were not born out of wedlock, so to speak, or by accident, but he deliberately chose us by name to be his children. The other day when we talked about ‘personal brand’, when you thought of the list of synonyms to describe yourself, was…

SEEING OTHERS THROUGH THE EYES OF GOD
by Bob Bushman 12-09
“Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.”
(1Corinthians 13:7 NLT)
“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
(Hebrews 12:2… Continue

Quite a few people here will go through Christmas without thier significant others. Certainly this will cause pain and anxiety, You may feel totally empty especially if you are by yourself. There is just no easy solution to loneliness and feeling discarded, rejected and defeated. Emotional pain is worse than anyone who has been through it can explain. We also have to recognize that others may have serious health issues and if they are left alone, that has to speak of misery as well as…

Prophecy 2010 - America Approaches the Fork in the Road
Posted: 11 Dec 2009 09:06 PM PST
Rev Michael Bresciani
Since my articles entitled Prophecy 2008 and Prophecy 2009 were the most read articles of each respective year I have undertaken this piece with much care and forethought. The prophetic message has changed little in the last two years but the country has changed significantly, unfortunately the changes have not all been…

Moreover, brethren, we make known to you the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia: 2 that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded in the riches of their liberality. 3 For I bear witness that according to their ability, yes, and beyond their ability, they were freely willing, 4 imploring us with much urgency that we would receive the gift and the fellowship of the ministering to the saints. 5 And not only as we had hoped, but… Continue

In Luke 1, two men are mentioned as being "great." Luke 1:15 says of John the Baptist - "For he shall be great." Luke 1:5 says - "There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea" - commonly known as Herod the Great. John was "great in the sight of the Lord." Herod was "great" in the sight of himself & of his court.
Which was the really great man?
Are you striving to be "great in the sight of men" or "great in the sight of the Lord" ?
"Those are great indeed that…

In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I pray for a hedge of protection to be around my entire family, home, property, body, mind, and spirit, I also pray this today, not just for my family Lord, but for all that lift this prayer up to You, and I ask that warrior angels sent by the one true God would be placed to stand guard at any holes that might be in that hedge. Holes in the hedge can be caused by yet to be dealt with sin, trauma or wounding in the lives of the people who dwell in the home.…

Laugh and sing, let the joy in your hearts ring,
For The Creator of man, has given us A King.
He has made right for us, all that was wrong,
so, reach out to one another, let love be our song.
Let go now your hearts, to love even stronger,
to bring His return so we'll not wait any longer.

CHRISTIANS, HANUKKAH IS FOR YOU, TOO
By: grantswank
J. Grant Swank, Jr.
The Feast of Lights!
It is a Christian celebration. Yes. It is a Jewish feast. Yes.
Yet Christians have ignored their opportunity to celebrate along with the Jews this annual observance. Why? Because Christians think that Hanukkah is solely Jewish. It is not.
It is for both Jews and Christians because its origins…
