1. According to Psalm 13:5, I declare that I will trust in God’s unfailing love at difficult times. I will not allow my heart to be troubled but I will rest in His love and my heart will rejoice in His salvation.
2. According to Psalm 20:7, Proverbs 18:10, and 2 Timothy 2:19, I declare that my trust is in the name of the Lord. He will answer me with great strength in time of trouble and He will keep me safe. As I walk in righteousness, He seals me with His mighty name and He rescues…

Proverbs 10:12 says "Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs.
This proverb is an example of antithetical parallelism in Hebrew poetry. "Hatred" is contrasted with "love." The "stirring up" is contrasted with a "covering over." Hatred looks for a fight and refuses to smooth things over, but love desires peace between warring parties and will not be involved in…

Gates of hell or "gates of Hades" is found only once in the entire Scriptures, in Matthew 16:18. In this passage, Jesus is referring to the building of His Church: "And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it" (Matthew 16:18).
At that time Jesus had not yet established His church. In fact, this is the first instance of the word church in the New Testament. The word church, as used by Jesus, means the…

There is a Scripture where God is said to speak in a "still small voice," and it was to Elijah after his dramatic victory over the prophets of Baal (1 Kings 18:20-40; 19:12). Told that Jezebel, the wife of Ahab, king of Israel, was seeking kill him, Elijah ran into the wilderness and collapsed in exhaustion. God sent an angel with food and water to strengthen him, told him to rest, and then sent him to Horeb. In a cave there, Elijah voices his complaint that all of God's prophets had been…

"Wisdom is supreme - so get wisdom. And whatever else you get, get understanding," says Proverbs 4:7. The Bible talks a lot about gaining wisdom and defines it by giving examples and then showcasing what happens when we don't act wisely. The book of Proverbs contrasts the wise and the foolish and tells us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 9:10). So we get wisdom when we learn to live in the fear of the Lord.
God gives wisdom through His Word and through…
