I had such a hard time going to sleep last night. After dozing off once, I awoke with a little girl's face in my mind's eye. My husband and I had met her a couple of weeks before at church. This little girl (about 9 or 10 years old) is always with her little brother, Matthew, and her grandparents at church. Little Matthew is a budding artist, drawing all during services as he sits next to his Grandma and Grandpa, which is what drew my husband's attention. We love to watch the children during…

What is happening to America? What has happened to the “land of the free and the home of the brave…”? What happened to the Constitution of the United States? Whatever happened to the Bill of Rights, namely, Article the third [Amendment I]: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and… Continue

Easter was my day to come to the Lord. I had hated religion and everything to do with Christians, which also meant that I hated Christ. What an awful thing. I hadn't realized the damage I was doing and how far I had moved away from the Lord. After watching a drama about the crucifixion, I got to hear the shouts and jeers of the crowd that had been gathered around Jesus as he hung on the cross, and the black energy that poured from the hearts and minds of those gathered. I was appalled and my…

Subject: Fw: Fw: Darrel Scott - Rachel Scott's father (Columbine Tragedy)
Hope you enjoy this, taken from the heart of man. Daa Yooper's
Guess our national leaders didn't expect this, hmm? On Thursday, Darrell Scott, the father of Rachel Scott, a victim of the Columbine High School shootings in Littleton , Colorado , was invited to address the House Judiciary Committee's subcommittee. What he said to our national leaders…

DEALING WITH MISSUNDERSTANDINGS
There are times in our lives when we have been judged wrongly, and there have been times when we also have judged some one else unfairly. The following story that took place in the book of Joshua exemplifies this so so well about misunderstandings.
“The people of Reuben, Gad, and East Manasseh went to Geliloth, near the Jordan River in the land of Canaan. There they built a… Continue

The times in which we live are serious and uncertain. A brief glimpse of the current news is merely a microcosm of what is occurring throughout our world. North Korea and Iran with their nuclear ambitions; Pirates off the coast of Somalia and their ongoing seizure of unarmed merchant vessels for financial gain; the declaration of Israel to Iran to Stop Nuclear development or they will be stopped; Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan (escalating into Pakistan);… Continue

Pretty much how I am feeling lately...........
"14 I am poured out like water,
and all my bones are out of joint.
My heart has turned to wax;
it has melted away within me.
15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd,
and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth;
you lay me [b] in the dust of death.
19 But you, O LORD, be not far off;
O my Strength, come quickly to help me.
2 Turn your ear to me,
come quickly to my…

Though not a parent myself, after a couple decades of observing, helping and counseling young adults and families, I've come to the conclusion that discipline is sadly lacking in both parents and children. New diseases and drugs have been invented to control behavior problems that used to be controlled by spanking. Spanking is now regarded as violence no matter what the behavior of the child. So, what do you do when reasoning and time outs don't work but you don't want to drug your child? This…

If you find that you are yelling and getting angry with your child more often than you would like, you may be looking at some ways to handle bad behavior in children. The first thing you need to keep in mind when you need to handle a behavior situation is that a child is a person. A child is a young adult that hasn't grown up yet. They know more and feel more than we can ever realize. Just the atmosphere in a home that is not at a high level can affect the child in ways that we do not know…

As children grow, they start picking up ideas from the environment and especially, from people around. They store those ideas in their mind and out of those, some become the benchmark for judging other ideas, people and objects. They are at a stage when they don’t really know much about life and that could be very disturbing at times. Meanwhile they grasp ideas fast, they also build likes/dislikes/habits which stay with them for a long time if not changed.
And some of…

A NEW DAY HAS COME
“This is the day which the LORD has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
(Psalm 118:24)
When you know the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior, you can rejoice and be glad every day regardless of your circumstances because He said,
“I will never leave you nor forsake you.” ( Heb. 13:5 )
Here I am in the stillness of the early morning dawn. I look out my…

Soul Food : our own JERUSALEM
If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God's church?
--- 1 Timothy 3:5
In Acts 1:8: “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

What a wonderful Easter. First I went to church with my sister and her family. I always set in the front row and because of that, they call me "Front Row Dave!" I'm ok with that.
After church we had a wonderful dinner at my mothers. I really love the company and spending time with love ones.
This has been a great Easter Sunday.
I hope everyone had as nice of a holiday as I.
May God be with all.....

That's right, I spent my Easter morning with the homeless.
As most of you already know I used to be a Pastor at the Refuge homeless shelter until I stepped down in November of 2008 but, I still am an active Pastor there on any given Sunday as called.
As always I want to say thank you so much to all of you that pray for me, the team of volunteers, and this ministry in general.
I thank… Continue
