A Most Criminal Cause of Poverty!!

"Much food is in the fallow ground of the poor, and for lack of justice there is waste." (Proverbs 13:23, NKJ)



One of the most criminal causes for poverty is exploitation! I received a letter from a friend who's been doing missionary work in Africa. He recently visited Tanzania. I was shocked when I learned this that he wrote:

My Ponderings about Wealth and Poverty.

I've been pondering about wealth and poverty. I seem to do that a lot.



Why are some people rich? Why are some people poor?



The Bible says that they have ONE thing in common...





So, if it is the Lord who has made some to be poor and some to be rich, why then should we try to change our financial state. Shouldn't we say that this is the Lord's will for me to be rich/poor? Why should we help those who are poorer… Continue

Can you hear the party in heaven???

The angels are having a party tonight!!



Our prodigal niece has come home!!!



She left a few months ago. She didn't want to have anything to do with us or God anymore. But guess what???



He had other ideas!! He is like a hound dog!! He hounded her. He wouldn't give her any peace. And, when she was stoned, she'd hear Him talking to her... "K, come back to Me!!" This happened every time she got stoned.

How I Study a Bible Passage (2)

The FIRST step is DISSECTING (as I showed in the previous post).



The SECOND step is UNDERSTANDING what is writen.



These are the things I look at and ask, in no particular order:



** THE CONTEXT - What comes before and what comes after?

How I Study a Bible Passage (1)

I feel this may be of benefit to someone, to help you study and understand a passage of Scripture. I want to share here how I do it.



The FIRST thing I do after reading the passage is to dissect it into manageable parts, so I can find out what the passage is really saying. I was asked to look at Deut 6, so I'm using this as an example. (The text is NKJ):

WAY too HEAVY!!

At our Tuesday night Bible study, we'd been studying Hebrews. We've just come to the end and finished chapter 13 a couple of weeks ago. It only took us just under two years. (You can't rush these things!!) :-)

My Take on WEALTH!!

There was a BIG discussion going on in the chat room today about riches. And is it right for a Christian to desire wealth? And the love-of-money-is-the-root-of-all-evil verse was quoted.



So what should our attitude be? And why are there some Christians who are very blessed with money, and then other Christians who have nothing? Doesn't it seem a bit unfair on God's part that some have and some don't?

A Proverb a day keeps folly away!

I'm in the middle of cleaning out the pantry, because we're going to have to move. By "we" I mean YOU, my online friends, and me. Now, that's got you scratching your head, eh?

The most dangerous cake recipe

(Thought you might need this temptation!! - just received it in an email.) :-)



5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE



4 tablespoons flour

4 tablespoons sugar

2 tablespoons cocoa

1 egg

3 tablespoons milk

3 tablespoons oil

3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)

Totally Mind-Blowing!! Awesome!!!

Boy, you can find answers in the strangest of places!!

Earlier tonight, like a good Christian, I was reading my Bible for our group, Jesus Discovery. We're looking at the first five verses where John claims that Jesus was/is God.

Some Words about the Word!!

A few of us have started a discovery into John's gopel. The group is called Jesus Discovery. It's not a study where you have someone teaching the others, but rather it IS a DISCOVERY, where we are all discovering more about Jesus together.

Jesus Discovery - An Invite!!



After talking with a few people on AGG, there seems to be a need to run a study for new Christians, and for those who are isolated. So with the help of a good friend, we'd like to set one up.



This is how we envisage it:



  • We don't want it to be all head knowledge;
