You asked "can we become a Christian through the Lord?" The answer is that is the only way. Being a Christian is about receiving Christ as Savior and being forgiven of our sin through His blood. This salvation is by grace through faith (Eph. 2:8-10) and is available to all who call upon His name (Rom. 10:13). Unlike religion, where religion expects a person to live a certain way to be worthy of the prize, Christianity proclaims while we are at our worst Jesus died for us (Rom. 5:8) so that we may be brought from spiritually dead to spiritually alive (Eph. 2:4-6). This new life is called being born again (John 3:3), where spiritually we become a new creation (2 Cor. 5:17).
So, yes, even where you are at you can be forgiven, saved and become a child of God. This does not mean life will get easy or that those who hate Christians will not hate you, but we have an eternal choice before us. That choice is whether or not we will receive Jesus as Lord. By that choice given to us by God we will face one of two destinations after we pass from this life in the flesh. We will either be with Jesus for all eternity or separated from Him and cast into the Lake of Fire for all eternity. I recognize you are in a diffuclt place regarding this decision, but what is at stake is of eternal importance.
