- My story with God
- I grew up Catholic. Attended catholic school, went through my confirmation, had my first communion, and could recite prayers from the Bible. However, I stopped going to church when my mother stopped making us. My next encounter with church was in my early twenties, married, living in the country MILES from any catholic churches, I was invited to a COGIC church. I never doubted whether there was a God, or that Jesus was the Son of God, and that the Holy Ghost existed, or that Jesus died on the cross in order to save me because of my sins. But I did not KNOW him. There was no relationship. Until a friend asked me if I was saved. I said "what", he said are you saved? You know, have you asked Jesus to come into your heart, and when you die you go to heaven. I told him, I had been to church my whole life, and had never heard that before. But I thought to myself at this time that I better find out what he's talking about, because I knew "about" Jesus, & had thought all this time I was going to heaven. Thus began my curiosity, I began to listen in the car, read books, and find out for myself what the truth was. I eventually came to the point where I decided to read the Bible myself from beginning to end, instead of reading what everyone else had to say about it. I was began to attend bible study, serve in the church, and eventually became the director of worship having the opportunity to minister to the youth in song and dance. I ended up in a divorce and walking away from that church, although I have stayed connected with some of my church family as well as the Pastor and some of the leadership. Though it felt like a long period of going through a wilderness, I eventually began to press in to God out of fear of falling away, knowing I was not in His will for my life. I remarried, and have a new ministry, as well as work in the ministry full time. Last year, I went through a 40 day fast on my own, and God had shown himself and continues to show himself so faithful! New revelations, and understandings of His principles and doctrines. And most of all, my RELATIONSHIP & INTIMACY with my Father is so amazing that I can't keep it to myself. I want everyone to know, understand, and experience the Love of God. I started a dynamic bible study at work with those who have a passion to dive in and get to the truth of God's word, to encourage each other and walk this life together. I serve an AMAZING GOD!!!
