My story with God
I was 10 years old when I "thought" I became saved. I went to church with my grandmother most Sundays. I was taught that I was going to burn in Hell with the devil if I didn't become saved. I was then taken to a room and recited the "sinners prayer" following the pastor's instruction. I continued to go to church and be taught the truth, not feeling any different about who I was. At fifteen I moved away from my grandmother and stopped going to church. I forgot all the teachings I was taught in church. I started experimenting with drugs. I had been arrested by the time I was 22 I had been arrested 4 times with alcohol driving and 2 times with marijuana. I should have been arrested several more times but som ehow I got away on a few occasions. I was then 28, smoked marijuana 5 times daily, went to work high as a kite and even smoked on the job site, addicted to video games and going no where. I would force myself to be social once a week and give myself a time limit so I could come back home to be by myself and get high and play video games. That is all I knew to even talk about in conversations. At that point in my life I started telling myself, "tomorrow will be different." It never was. My friends would tell me I was so nice they were sure I was going to heaven. I was not convinced. I started to remember the teachings of the truth I had learned growing up. I felt a pull for something better in my life. I sold my video games and gaming systems and decided I was going to self educate my self. About a week into this era of motivation I realized that in order to truly change I was going to need help from God. I dropped to my knees, confessed my sins and humbled my self to God, as king for his forgiveness and receiving it. The very next day was crazy. I felt this pull to get rid of all the things in my life that were a bad influence. It did take a month to give up smoking marijuana, but once I confessed that I was weak and that I could not give that habit up with out God's help, He came through. Since that day I have stopped seeking worldly wisdom, finding that all i need to know is in God's word. He truly has changed my life and who I am. Before I didn't think having children was important, I had no idea what a wife was supposed to be like, I was looking for that independent modern American woman. God has blessed me with a God fearing woman who needs me and wants to take care of our children and teach them to fear God. I now know that children are a blessing from God, and who am I to hinder God from blessing us if He chooses to. I am not perfect, but I am a work in progress made in the image of our Holy God. Perfection is a possibility, but I often l et my sinful nature screw things up. Thank God that He sees His son in us, cleansing all of our sins with His blood.
