I was raised Baptist. Went to church with my Grandma as a kid, sang the songs and continued to go with neighbors to two different churches. I liked one more than the other so began going when we had the extra gas to drive out there. Always believed until about 2005. I was a teen, troubled by many things health wise. I had to have multiple surgeries because I was born with a spinal cord birth defect called Spina Bifida. In the Bible they teach that Jesus healed people. For about 5 years I became agnostic at best. If He could heal people, why on earth would He not heal ME? Save me from this misery and pain! Could not wrap my head around it. February 2005 I was institutionalized for being suicidal. I found Jesus again after a horrible high school experience; graduated in '09 after losing a childhood friend to a car accident. I also began to lose the ability to walk in my sophomore year. 2010-2012 began the healing process; of my mind at least. Started to look at my birth defect as something greater; learning tool of sorts. I volunteered as a soccer coach to 4 and 5-year-olds and then volunteered in an inclusion (ESE) class at my old elementary school. Now I help homeschool one of the boys I taught in kindergarten (he's 2nd grade now) and his brother and have made an amazing friend in their mom.
It's more traumatic than the small summary; but this pretty much says all!
