- Raised catholic yet never sought God. First received Holy Spirit at church visit with family. Baptized at birth and again in mid twenties. Fought self perfection and didn't understand I would always fall short and started to turn away and self hate began. Have had a wonderful, hard, challenging, confusing, joyful, painful, and happy life. Have kids and family. Self hate became depression and anxiety just trying to be me. Felt Jesus pulling me to Him. Inconsistent with going to church, praying , etc. Moved again with military husband and really fell into deep depression. Went to Mass after decades of searching outside Catholicism. Found friendship in another believer recently and started going to mass. For the first time, I understand the worship style and reason behind it. Learning more about the church and I'm finding I enjoy the repetition and structure. I feel as though I am worshiping and praising for the first time. I have many questions still. I feel at home finally. I am praying for a consistent worship filled lifestyle. I fight every day to get up and find a reason to care about living. Jesus is helping me. Faith is helping me. I pray that I am being the best faith leader to my kids. I'm learning to accept my individuality and trust that I was made a certain wY, think and react a certain way because I was MADE to. I need to love myself as his creation. Self hate is an issue for me. I want my life to matter. I want to reach someone and make a difference. I want to hear " well done my good and faithful servant".
